Zevo's Skin Texture Overlay with Iray?

Can you use Zevo's Skin Texture overlay and add Iray Uber after or use V3Digitime's Iray converter for (Genesis1) with it? Thanks.

I do it all the time. I've got a render cooking with it right now.

What I usually do is go into temp directory and grab diffuse image for face, limbs, torso, though have to double check there are no actual variations to deal with.

    Then I convert to Iray.

    OK thanks :)

  • A question regarding  Zevo's 'skin overlay for V4 and M4 skin sets'.

Can the displacementbump settings be used with Iray and if so, how do I do it?

I can get everything to work with 3Delight but only get diffuse settings to work with Iray.

Bump settings in Iray are different than 3Delight. You may need to set the Base Bump to 2 or 3. I usually start around 2 myself, (but I'm no expert!) Displacement requires you set the SubD Displacement Level to work. You'll find it immediately below the Maximum Displacement parameter. The higher the number, though, the longer the render time, iirc.

My rule of thumb is that going 3DL -> Iray, multiply bump by 5.

Also, you will probably want to ignore displacement. Alternately, increase the model's SubD. There are indications that Displacement SubD does bad things if you increase it.

My suggestion is that if you are going to do a lot with the displacement map, send it to http://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ or Photoshop 3d filter Make Normal Map and make a (surprise) Normal map out of it. Unless you really really REALLY have to, Iray works better with Normal maps than Displacement.

You are correct, Will. I used Zevo's Overlays quite a bit with the Generation 4 stuff. Forgot I had bought the bundle for Gener. 4 and Genesis so haven't used on Genesis yet. But once in a while there were very bad results. It was like the mesh was split at the UV seams. It didn't happen all the time...just sometimes.

  • Thanks for the advice folks.....happy rendering :)

  • Cool. Im glad I can use this with iray.
