Sale End Dates Would Be Nice

Another sale lost. I had Minotaur 6 items in my cart today. Got busy and finally was able to sit down and check out...only to find the products are back up to full price. This has been an issue for years, and still not implimented. One of the reasons I rarely buy from here...by the time I get back to my cart, the sale is gone. No warning at all.angry Thanks again, Daz, for saving me money. *sigh*

It would certainly be nice, but yeh, it has been known to save me some cash.

From Daz's point of view it would be a counterproductive move.

Not knowing when a sale ends encourages impulse purchases and/or "panic" buying. If you knew that you had a week before the sale ended, you may delay (and ultimately abandon) your purchase.

If that was the case, the hundreds of organisations would all use it and not give durations; it may work well for Daz, that doesn't actually mean there isn't a better method available.

A company's actions can affect their customer's; those can be both detrimental, and beneficial.

I get the frustration, it's happened to me as well, but I also understand the advantages from a company like Daz's perspective.  In fact they aren't the only ones to implement these types of sales, Amazon does it as well, and the word goes out far and wide pretty quickly through social media and the like for people to jump on it, because nobody knows how long it will last.  The internet is a brave new world when it comes to business models and trying new stuff.  It simply can not be operated like a physical store down the block from your home.

Well, for me, it means a missed purchase and for Daz it means a missed sale. I generally do not impulse buy...at least not within a matter of minutes. I like to mull over whether I really want it, and whether I can really afford it. In this case, I mulled it over for half a day and decided, why not (and I kinda got busy and didn't have a chance to get back to my cart right away). Unforunatley by then, the sale had ended, so I dumped the products out of my cart.

If Daz doesn't want to impliment end sale dates/times on the product pages because they think it beneifits them, then maybe send an email if you've got items in your cart that are set to expire from a sale ending. I've seen other sites do that, so that way you have one last chance to purchase at the sale price.

I understand internet shopping is not like physical shopping. But letting your customers know when a sale is ending is done just about everywhere. It's not a new concept and for the most part, I believe should be implimented on every store site, unless it's a special flash sale that only lasts a few minutes. I would think having happy customers over frustrated ones would be the better business model to adhere by.

I'm guessing you are frustrated by Flash Sales and FastGrab sales primarily. Regular sales promos seem to show up on the left side of the store sales banner (right next to the Platinum Club ad), and get bumped to the right as new sales promos launch. By the time a promo reaches the right side of the banner, it's about to expire and that typically takes several days.

Flash sales are promoted as such (e.g. for a limited time only) and appear to be geared more to trigger impulse buying. On a side note, I also eventually discovered that a lot of flash sales tend to launch in the later evening Eastern Time and expire the next day...maybe this is due to the DAZ offices being in Utah and the last person out the door kicks off the flash sale before turning off the lights to go home, lol.

FastGrab sales seem to be the most variable in duration and I get the feeling they are tied to an agreed upon limited number of sales because some items (like Mec4D's) disappear almost before I can get them into my cart and others seem to languish for days.

I've been burned/saved money by short-duration Flash/FastGrab sales, but have gotten accustomed to the fact that there's always another sale around the corner. ;-)

We have not had sale end dates since DAZ site moved to Magento years ago.

With the complex sales rules and stacking sales computing the price of an item is already quite complex, but determining untill when said price is valid would be even more difficult.

So even without taking into account the "no sale end dates favors impulse buyings" argument I really doubt DAZ will add one back to their pages, unless the go back to simple time-limited sales only.

Quite often the sale banner does show the date and time it ends (the current Collective3D sales header at the top of the page, when clicked on, has the date and time it expires in SUPER FINE print at the bottom).  However, and I totally agree with Raven that, once in your cart, it should stay at the sale price until purchased or removed.  I've had a sale where I was going to clear out a big part of my Wish List and spend over $150 and save over $400 go poof.  Talk about disturbing!

It's a nice system (mostly), but it's a fairly recent development, and it's only been working reliably (mostly) since after this year's March Madness sales. Whatever advantage it has, though, is too often countered by sale setups that are incredibly over-complicated, incredibly wrong, or both.

As evidenced by my amusingly low post count, I'm obviously new here, so I guess I have been fortunate not to live through some of the apparent turmoil veterans have experienced. I agree that computing sales discounts and leveraging all they have to offer has gotten more complicated in the past few month!

Welcome PDS! It's all part of the fun and charm of DAZ3D and really makes it all worthwhule when you have those "HOLY CRAP, I SAVED HOW MUCH?!" moments, LOL.

I'm not sure what the "World of Warcraft" sale was...if it was a flash sale or not. All I know is I had some Minotaur 6 items in my cart that were included in that sale. I was thinking about getting them, mulling it over, then got busy away from my computer. Later that evening, I went back to my cart to check out, only to find the items all back to full price. So I dumped the cart.

I don't visit Daz often, so I have no idea how the new sales models work. However, I have been around the 3d world for about 10 years now (my low post count is because I rarely visit forums anymore). The old Daz site (pre-Genesis) was MUCH better, in my opinion. The sales were better, the coupons were better. The all around shopping experience was more fun. Now, it's a jumbled mess of "buy this new Genesis 3 item and you can choose something for 50% off" or "buy two new items (most of which are Genesis 3) and get xx% off something else". Ok, but I don't use Genesis 3, so more often than not, the sales Daz does have I cannot take advantage of. So when I DO find a sale I CAN take advantage of, and then the items go off sale before I can check out...it starts to get very irritating and just reminds me why I seldom shop here.

It is what it is. Suffice it to say, the money I was going to spend here that day went to Rendo. *shrug*
