Updating dim crashes computer

Every time I try to use dim lately it says it needs to be updated.  I try to update it but before it is finish updating I get a bsod.

 

Running win 10 under a relatively fresh install.  Though it is a six year old computer. 

 

Trying right now to see the bsod error.

    If it is crashing at the very end of the install process it may be during the Visual C runtime install portion of the install...which means there is an incompatible VCruntime or the wrong version/version mismatch.

    I got it to update but I cannot seem to run dim.  it seems that my c drive becomes unreadable right before the BSoD
