How do you drape the dynamic Americ Flag in DAZ?

Is it me, or does this flag not attach to the flag pole, making it useless?

The pictures in the previews show it beautifully draped.

What am I missing?

The included documentation is as worthless as can be.

Thanks for that!

Do you have Dynamic cloth control plugin in and if so is it installed?   I have that flag but will not be able to use my computer until Tuesday night at the earliest.   If no one can help you until then, I can try to load it on my DS4.9 to see what is going on

oh what version of DS are you using?

Should be a version attached to the pole already as well as just the flag by itself.

Yes I have the dynamic plugin, an it appears that the version attached to the pole, isn't.

If I hit "drape" it falls to the floor, detached from the pole.

It looks like it is supposed to attached to the sleave, but it is not attached.  It is detached and if I try to parent it to the pole or sleave i get an error, and cannot proceed.

Anybody actually get this to work?

I just loaded it in DS 4.9 without a problem.  You should download it again from your product library to make sure you have the most updated version...not that I can tell if it was ever updated.

I remember a similar thread to this, a year or so back, when another user was having trouble with this item. I did manage to get it working. I have the dynamic plug-in, although I doubt that is important. The flag is conformed (ie fit to) the pole, so check if this is true for you as well. I have included the renders I did with it back then.

That may have been me, as I have had issues with the flag just falling away from the pole regtradkess of what I did.

    • load just American flag pole
    • click on flag in scene
    • open dynamic cloth window
    • click on physics tab, then add wind
    • click on wind in scene
    • I set wind to 50-75 velocity and rotated y direction -75 to -90 in parameters
    • click back on flag
    • click on animated drape in dynamic cloth window
    • set timeline to number of frames (default 30 should work fine)
    • click drape and watch it process
    • you can slide the scrubber back to find your best frame to render (or use them all in animated render)

    hope this helps.

    Thanks for this!

I did not ave any wind settings, I worked with the default settings the flag, as I wanted it to drape down like it wold if it was in an office. When I hit drape, the flag would always detach from the top of the pole destroying the look, usually floating away from the pole.

I will play with this a bit more to see if I can get something useful for my image.

There was a note about pin strength somwhere, but I was never able to find the place to alter this value.

I notice in your image, the flag drops a bit from the sheath as well, see the space at the top of the flag, and the white space of the sheath above it.

    Thanks!

Whenever I added the wind control the flag just flew away!  I'll have to give it another go.

I have a simple, draped flag prop up at ShareCG (link in sig)...simply because it is such a pain in the rear to get the dynamic flag to drape quickly, nicely and without having to fuss with it afterwards (freeze the drape and move the flag back up the pole....)

I've used the Dynamic flag for things and it's great...but for a simple flag, on a pole that just sits there...not so much.
