Gun/Missile/Torpedo Turret Props

DZ Fire's 'Nurnies Greebles' sets are fantastic for adding detail to architecture and buildings. I wonder if anyone's thought of something similar, except specifically for gun turrets (elevation and rotation articulation is an obvious necessity) and missile/torpedo racks?

Not of the kind which requries a figure to sit in, but automated types placed safely in armoured housings. We could rescale them to any size we require and add them over the hulls/wings of vehicles and building walls, just by parenting them. Then we could repurpose practically any air/sea/ground vehicle into something for security or military purposes. Articulation in the turret allows the vehicle to face in a different direction while still keeping track of the necessary targets (Kibarreto's 'Pocket Star' has this, but the weapon can only point up, making it impossible to target anything on the surface and be used for chase sequences).

There could also be alternative versions with a glass window in place of any weapons, so that they could double as sensor turrets (or for internal laser).

With the right material zones, we could also just place shaders of our choosing upon the various different parts.

Years ago, Davorama had various modular 'construction set' products that you could use to assemble spaceships, vehicles etc. These included some gun turrets, missile launchers etc. A handful of Davorama products are still on DAZ but most of the 'construction sets' have moved to other marketplaces. Every time I bookmark one of his stores going "Oh, I should buy that some day," the site has usually changed or become unavailable by the time I come back to it, but I think you can find most of his stuff on CGBytes.

Lots of this stuff is fairly old and hasn't necessarily stood the test of time -- modeling and texturing techniques have moved on a lot since it was first made. Still, while you're waiting for another artist to implement your suggestion (and I think it's a good one), you might like to look at Davo's stuff.

I like this idea. Although I have located missles and props in other sets, it would be helpful to have a more modern set using the latest texture and options.
