Do DS-Only items work at all in Poser?

In the past few days, I've seen a few items that are tempting, but then I see that they work only in DazStudio. For example, this cool wheelchair.
I need items that work in both programs, and am not interested in fiddling around with them to force them to work. To put it bluntly, there are other wheelchairs (and other items) out there that may not be as nice, but they work "right out of the box" in Poser and DS, with only a few tweaks needed to materials.
But that got me wonder about file types and cross-compatability. When the content creator lists only DS, is this citing a limitation in file format, or that the creator didn't test it in Poser? I realize that this is one of those "well, it depends..." type of questions. I know that. I don't want to go off into the weeds about figures (especially rigged models and smart props) and materials. I'm talking about relatively simple items like a wheelchair, or pots & pans, or stuff like that.

if you see a Dson Installer in the product details , then it should work in poser. you may need to adjust the mats though.
DSON Core installer does not mean "for use in Poser". DSON is the format used by DS4.5+, and DSON Core installers are meant for DS.
Now, items in DSON format can be made to work in Poser 9+ using the DSON importer Poser plugin.
If the product includes both a DSON Core and a Poser companion file it means that the creator provided support files that will make the DSON files appear in your Poser library and use the importer plugin automatically when you load them from there. It also usually means that you have Poser MATs included.
If there are no companion files you have two choices: either create them yourself in DS, or use Dimension3D's DSON Loader script (freebie) to load the files.
Thank for the reminder I forgot about that script
Leana's right it should say this in the product details instead, my bad.
Note that not every item will load correctly in Poser even if you create the Poser Companion Files or use the Dimension3D import script.
Thanks for the info. That stuff is good to know!
Honestly, as a Poser user I can just confirm that what Richard says is true since not all the items will load correctly in Poser even if they can be imported by means of the Dimension 3D script or if they have Poser Companion files.
That's kind of what I was afraid of. I am currently bouncing back and forth between Poser and DS: Project needs dictate which app I use. And, unfortunately, the project that could use the wheelchair needs to be completed in Poser. Oh well, there are some free wheelchairs that will have to suffice. They're not as nice as this one, but they'll have to do.
