Can Studio read Poser Camera set ups?

Can Studio read Poser camera sets?

1. Can I create and save camera setups in Studio?

2. How do I do that?

And slightly unrelated, what lights does Studio have that either it can read from a Poser scene file or that I can convert from a Poser scene?

Lights work very different in the two programs so it is not worth the effort to even try converting between the two.

Edit:  Poser cameras with basic settings will load and work in Studio.

Lights: forget it, as said above.

Cameras: sort of, but there are some setup differences that mean you'll have to tweak things. Sometimes it just won't work, and you'll have to resort to setting up new cameras from scratch.

Saving camera setups can be done two ways. Use "Save As" and either save a scene subset, and select only the cameras, or save a Camera Preset.

Incidentally, are you using "Save As" or the "+" button at the bottom of the Content Library tab? Saving directly into the tab is the method I almost always use, it guarantees that my saved file always goes into an actual content folder so I can find it again more easily. A lot of people, though, never seem to realise what the "+" button is for.

I was going to check...but the only lights I have installed seem to have Studio files along side them and they will load Studio set up lights...

But I thought that Studio would load 'something' in the position for the Poser lights and that you could select the light and replace it (add a studio light and use the replace options) to get the proper settings.  Yes, things may need to be adjusted, but positioning wouldn't be one of them...and positioning is half the reason for using a premade light set.

.Yeah, there were sets of nice colored Poser lights that Trav made over at RDNA and I'd use them in Studio because the color combos were so nice. Studio replaces all the lights with distant lites at defaults, and shadows off but color is maintained. But they're so old, probably Poser 4/5 era, that when I went hunting in my RDNA downloads they're nowhere to be found. I discovered I still have them in an ancient runtime and tested a quickie. I just merged a set into a scene, turned on raytraced shadows on the main light and rendered.

All right, I get the picture. Basically, if I'm importing a scene from Poser to Studio, I should substitute the cameras and lights.

Another quick question, are there a number of differences between Iray and 3 delight that would make having to redo the lights and cameras necessary as well?

Sort of...Studio will, depending on the renderer, automatically choose the light 'type'.  Early versions with Iray had separate lights, the they were combined and made 'context' aware.  But that is only for 'basic' lightsl...distant/spot/point.   Emissive/area lights, environment and such...need to be set separately for each.

    Cameras....nothing need be done.
