How can I get ManFriday's dForce Companion working in DS6?  I have reinstalled it and it won't show up under installed plugins and obviously not under windows/panes{tabs) either.

You can't. To get it working requires an upgrade.

And to my knowledge Daz has bought it as part of Premier SW, so it will not be upgraded for normal users.

dForce Companion will never work in DS6...
1) In DS6, Help > About Installed Plugins... check if dForce Manager is installed and enabled.
2) In Simulation Settings pane > Manage tab, you'll see dForce Manager.
