MatineeFX is not working.

I bought MatineeFX, but I can't install it !
DIM swallowed the file, but the "General" tab is blank...
Manual installation is impossible; when I put the plugin file in there, the antivirus blocks the PC's PowerShell, and I can't stop it.
There's no recognized digital signature, so the antivirus blocks everything; even after I restore it from quarantine, it blocks PowerShell again—I'm completely stuck!
I'm a patient guy, but this is just ridiculous—NOTHING WORKS...
If I were the seller, I'd have made the installation even more complicated—maybe in binary or C+...
Everything is blocked right now; you need to find a solution—the thing cost 70 bucks, after all...

There are files everywhere, and on top of that, I don't speak English.
Same problem here, perhaps Daz should let all the anti virus companies know they are going to use Powershell so it does not get swallowed up by quarantines of anti virus
So I'm not the only one, then... hoping for a quick update.
The worst part is the antivirus blocking PowerShell; there's nothing I can do about that.
Oh man, nothing is working...
I have Norton 360 Deluxe, and it's giving me messages about quarantining and blocking PowerShell; I'm not an IT guy, I don't know anything about this stuff.
I don't even know how to install the thing...
J’utilise Daz 6 ; le DIM ne fait rien avec les fichiers — l’onglet Tailleur de pierre est vide, sans icônes ni rien.
Norton here too, the heuristics catch it as a high risk virus the same as the one in post above
Okay try the following as a possible solution...
1. Close Daz Studio and leave Norton switched on.
2. In Windows File Explorer, open your DAZ content library and go to General\Stonemason\MatineeFX for Daz Studio 6\plugins.
3. Copy the dsp_MatineeFX.dll file and the entire MatineeFX folder.
4. Paste both into C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio6\plugins. Click Continue if Windows asks for permission, and Replace if it finds the same files.
5. Reopen Daz Studio and look for MatineeFX in the Render menu.
You don’t need to run the BAT again. If Norton displays another warning, stop and send me that message.
It's always empty.
Thanks, The installation files won’t show in Daz’s Content Library, you need to look in Windows File Explorer.
1. Right-click MatineeFX for Daz Studio 6 in the folder list shown in your screenshot and select Browse to Folder Location.
2. This should open a separate Windows File Explorer window. Open the plugins folder there.
3. Look for dsp_MatineeFX.dll and the MatineeFX folder. These are the two items to copy using my previous instructions.
Ah, it's showing up at the top.
It's working for me now.
Go to the "Render" tab at the top and select "Render with MatineeFX"; the rendering starts, and the interface appears once it's finished.
I get..
>The Microsoft runtime at C:\Windows\system32\MSVCP140.dll is version 14.44.35211.0; this build uses MSVC 14.51. Update the x64 Redistributable.
I have to update my Visual C++ manually?
EDIT: Did so now. The link is in the install.txt. Needs a restart and some trust into ms.
INSTALL_MATINEEFX.bat now runs without problems and says it is installed.
Yet, no entry under "Render" for "Render with Matinee" in the Studio...
EDIT 2: OK, I had a custom installation.
So I had to "drag its program folder onto the BAT."
Which actually means this folder within the DAZ installation: "DAZ Studio: Software\x64\DAZ 3D"
Problem: Still no entry under "Render" for "Render with Matinee" in the Studio...
EDIT 3: Got it running.
Actual installation was at : DAZ Studio: Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D
This is the order I had to "drag onto the BAT".
Seems I have a double installation within the Daz Studio for some weired yet unknown reason. Probably incompetence on my side.
Anway, now onwards to exploring the new toy...
Thanks to the PA for the quick help
; some people might still need assistance.
Just a heads-up, in case anyone else runs into a similar issue:
First of all: It’s a wonderful addition to DAZ Studio. I’m really impressed.
My only issue is that the installation is refused for Studio 4.24—yet it runs perfectly on version 6.
When trying to install the 4.xx version, I get a message stating that MSVCP140.dll is present in version 14.42, but the build requires MSVC 14.51.
I’m going to try using the latest VC_redist.x64.exe; that should do the trick.
I got the same error. I installed The latest stable version of that C++ file and Matinee installed perfectly.
Sorry about the install hassles, everyone.
If you’re getting the MSVCP140.dll error, close Studio and update the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime from here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist/
Choose X64 under "Latest supported redistributable version". Once it’s installed, restart Windows and run the MatineeFX BAT again, then reopen Studio.
Karen, let me know if that sorts out the DS4 install.
rhye, any luck copying the files manually, or is Norton still blocking them?
If you’ve got it working now, please let me know too.
That did the trick if you un-quarentine the file from Norton first
Vatiation use install finder to find needed files.
Now woeks, thank you.
I had a different issue - after a successful update of the Visual Studio files and then installing Matinee to Daz Studio 4, Genesis 9 started to render completely white in Iray even though the textures were loaded. After hours getting help from Gemini we finally pinpointed the prolem to be Windows suddenly blocking files it was not blocking before. So this really had nothing to do with Stonemason at all.
For instance the log showed things like this:
dzlayerededitor.dll failed to load... En programkontrollprincip har blockerat den här filen. (sorry that was in Swedish but you get the gist of it).
So I was instructed to use the Windows Terminal to unblock the entire DAZ Studio 4 installation folder with this command:
Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\" -Recurse | Unblock-File
Disclaimer: Do doublecheck with an experienced programmer or with AI (if you have one you trust with this sort of thing) before pasting anything in.
I did find Gemini very helpful though, just made sure to tell it to slow down the instructions and then fed it screenshots of what I was doing so I could vet every step.
It is all working for me now in DAZ Studio 4.24. Make sure to go the Render window in the top menu and select 'Render with MatineeFX'. It looks great!
Just sharing this here in case anyone has the same issue and would like to save a little time. :)
I have installed the MSVCP140.dll and update the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime but I have DAZ not in C , I have in D , the FX matinee is in D too but do nothing, in render I dont get the option render with matinee FX : (
Glad you’ve got it working, rhye, Marc and Frequency3D :)
jinmoti1789, having Studio on D: is fine. Try pointing the installer directly at your Studio folder:
Close Daz Studio.
In Windows File Explorer, find your Studio program folder on D:. Check that DAZStudio.exe is inside it, then go back up one level.
Drag that folder onto the MatineeFX installation BAT. Use INSTALL_MATINEEFX.bat for Studio 4, or INSTALL_MATINEEFX_DS6.bat for Studio 6. Keep the BAT alongside its supplied files.
Accept the Windows permission prompt and wait for the SUCCESS message, then reopen Studio and check the Render menu.
If it still doesn’t appear, please tell me whether you’re using Studio 4 or 6 and post a screenshot of the message in the installer window.
Question: Is it sufficient to copy the .dll into the plugin folder for a different installation of DAZ4?
You’ll need the MatineeFX folder as well as the DLL.
With Studio closed, copy both MatineeFX.dll and the entire MatineeFX folder into the other DAZ4 installation’s plugins folder.
Matinee FX is now working perfectly for me in both Studio versions.
Just one question: Picutres loaded to Environment - backdrop aren't being rendered in Matinee. Is that intentional, or have I missed something?
No big deal, I just noticed it by chance in a scene where I loaded a background image to "fake" a view out of the window.
Thanks!! I manually downloaded both versions & followed your directions. Was able to locate MatineeFX under the Render Tab upper left corner of DAZ Studio for each version
You’ll need the MatineeFX folder as well as the DLL.
With Studio closed, copy both MatineeFX.dll and the entire MatineeFX folder into the other DAZ4 installation’s plugins folder.
I have done that and now it works, thank you
