Studio 4.24 fatal error just opening my Scene Subset

Hi, all.

So this is new for me. I've spent a few weeks composing a single-figure scene. There aren't that many elements to it - maybe a dozen. I've saved it dozens of times. But now it won't even open without a fatal error crashing Studio. I don't know what I changed or introduced. I was fine-tuning a pose; there was a D-Former in the scene but nothing extreme. 5-6 geometry shells, which I'm not that used to using. I saved it again, then tried to change the color of a new hair style I bought for this: Neftis Zephyr Curls, G8M. (Not exactly a one-click solution for some reason.) I tried to add a smoothing modifier because I noticed the cap was having some poke-through. That's when it crashed the first time. I haven't been able to open it since. The log says something about "upgrading" the database. I can open Studio and load other scene subsets and .duf files, but not the scene subset I've been working on. What is the malfunction, please?

Thanks as always,

Can you open the scene in the DS 4 beta, or in DS 6?

  • Hmmm, that's a good question. I bet I never installed either one; I don't see them. Is the script looking for them specifically? Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade? I haven't faced this kind of breakage before and I wasn't thinking about it. Do you recommend that step?

Installing DS 4 beta or DS 6 will be done in parallel to DS 4, so they are independant installs, and can work simultainiosly.

  • Well... if that's the only fix for the problem, then I'll have to figure out again how to manually download and install Studio. I don't do DIM, and while I do see Studio 6 in my Product Library, I don't see any Manual Install buttons like I do on all my purchased content pages. That's not the only reason I'm reluctant to "upgrade" to 6. Are people telling me to do this purely as a troubleshooting step to see if it works? Or is this a known solution to a known problem? I'm still struggling to understand what the log says...

    Thank you kindly, everyone :)

DS 6 and DS 4 beta can only be installed with DIM. There was expected to be a manual option for DS 6, but isn't.
