Z Out of Body Experience for Genesis 3 and 8

Z Out of Body Experience for Genesis 3 and 8 | Daz 3D

First time using this and it is great but I have a problem. If you ally the translucency to the clothes, specifically the top. You get the same effect as a wet t shirt contest. So far I have stuck a knife in one side and will have to jjust kee0p something in front of the other. Any one else have this problem?

    I don't have it.

But it you also apply the shader to the character I would think it might be fine.

    Have you tried that?

Yes but it doesn't seem to be effecting the character right.

Based on the promos the ghosts were much more colorless, so I assumed the textures had been replaced.

    I don't know.

Maybe someone that has it will come by.

Here's what it looks like applied to the skin and hair.  But I wonder if I had a similar issue with the clothing as it appears I made him nude.  Sorry this scene is from several years ago.  I'll play around with it some tonight and get reqacquainted with it.

The problem is that we don't have an Iray shader like pwGhost, that can make the first surface translucent with respect  to the background and other items but opaque with respect to itself and anything in the same "entity". This is perfectly logical, the traditional translucent ghost effect is like a layered image overlaid on the world rather than anything physically possible, but it is counter to tradition. Two renders, one of the fully opaque ghost, layered in an imagee ditor would be the obvious way to do it.- though a set of canvasses might work too.

Here's what I came up with.  I applied the shader to all the body surfaces, the hair and the clothes.  For the skin, this is the opacity at 100%.  After i applied the shader to the clothing, it was still blue, just a little washed out.  I had to make them white.  For this particular dress, I did that by making the Glossy Color white, then lowering the opacity to 20%.  I'm sure it will work differently, or better or worse, with different outfits.  Lighting is very important, too.  The head on light was probably a poor choice for this demonstration.  The second picture has the Blue Glow shader applied to all surfaces.

I bought the pw ghost shader and didcoverered it no longer works with the newest versions of daz.

pwGhost is a custom 3DL shader and only works when rendering with the 3DL render engine. It never worked when rendering with Iray as the automatic "3DL to Iray material translation" DS does can't translate custom 3DL shaders (IIRC the surface ends up solid white or black in the render). You can use pwGhost in DS up to 4.24.0.3 which is the last DS4 version with 3DL render engine, but indeed it won't work with the latest DS4.24.0.4 or DS6.

As Richard mentioned there's no real equivalent of pwGhost for Iray. However there are some ghostly shaders which might help if the "out of body" one doesn't suit your needs, for example https://www.daz3d.com/iray-ghost-shaders or https://www.daz3d.com/z-ghostly-shader-and-poses-for-genesis-9

I've not tried using it with a clothed model yet as I've only used it for a ghostly apparition so far, about 75% translucent. Looks pretty good when surrounded by coloured mists. Can't post pic as I'm on iPad at work.

    I have https://www.daz3d.com/iray-ghost-shaders . I will try that. Thanks
