Hey Hair Creators

Any chance we could get some male hair like in the image attached. The closest I can find is the Micah hair and that is genesis 2. Doesn't ahve to be strandbased, though that would be awesome. If anyone knows any hair similar to this that I am missing, would appreciate any suggestions.

  • I'd buy it. I buy pretty much any reasonable "ordinary guy" hair that hits the store.

I like the short side hair and clean cut look, and the new perm on top--which I see everyday because I teach college, but fuller hair around the neck and back would be great. I think I have 98% of the male hair on here--and I have tried styles for females but haven't seen one along these lines.

    Hey Hair Creators

From what I've heard from creators, public requests are a bad thing. You should pick one creator you know is open to requests and ask just them.

If the idea is put out to everyone, at that point the creators don't know if they're competing with someone else for the market, and it's safer to work on things they don't think others might be working on.

Have you tried the gen 2 hair on a gen 8 or 9 character? I have a favorite V4 hair that I have used on everything.

That makes a lot of sense, but I don't know how to get in touch with, say, Toyen.

I have and in general they work. They just often don't look quite as realistic and you might need some adjustments, but yes I have made it work. I have even tried some M4 hairs--but those are, temperamental to say the least.

There several products that will give older hair a new breath of life like for example https://www.daz3d.com/colorwerks-hair-shaders-for-iray and the materials in https://www.daz3d.com/mmx-resource-saver-shaders-collection-2-for-iray will also make old hairs look a lot better, even though they are intended as resource saver. Dont confuse them with the other shaders intended to give a consistent look to your strand & fibremesh hair, though.

ED Ive just remembered that Uncanneyvalet over at 3DShards has a mullet for G9 in his Gopnik Hair pack, thats about the closest ive seen too Magnum P.I.'s hair

I have that first shader set--actually I have few and they do wonders on older hair. I didn't know about the mmx shaders. I have the gopnik hair, which I highly recommend. As I recall that vendor also has a hair option for their John Snow character. they are great hair, but not totally what I was looking for. I'm pretty good at creating mustaches and some body hair in DS, but haven't had much success with head hair. I need to watch some tutorials rather than just trying on my own.

How about PAs creating some hairstyles that aren't several Gb in file size? There are plenty with file sizes under a couple of hundred Mb which look great, so why are most of the newer ones so huge?

I've had some that slow my machine down or mean I can render 1 figure. Those I end up selling back, knowing I won't use them much.
