That's what I was thinking too. I'm sure there wasn't much income to be made on that product. It would seem to have taken a lot of development time. I'll drop a line
Short answer: Yes, but that's more to do with the Moon settings than my Star settings.
Longer answer: There are many options to get the Moon looking how you want, where you want, and with the lighting effects you want. The attached render is a fairly simple example: Here are some of the settings I used for it:
The Add moonlight option seems to be essential to get enough light to see detail in the scene - although I haven't yet tried playing with the Moon Brightness setting. A quirk (bug?) with Add moonlight is that a new "TruSky Moonlight" light gets added to the scene each time you click OK to generate a new HDR image. That's not a big deal, as you can hide, adjust, move, duplicate, delete them like any other scene node. In fact the attached render unintentionally had 5 copies of "TruSky Moonlight", which I kept because they gave the (non-realistic) lighting I wanted.
kyoto kid, daveso, FrankTheTank, tsroemi, and anyone I forgot: Glad you found it helpful. I'm enjoying playing with it :)
I apologize that I didn't get a commercial thread up. This was a complex product with LOTS of options. I spent a lot of time on it, and then I had to rush to get the product into the Golden Ticket queue. I then went on my first true vacation since I started working with Daz in 2017
. Thank you @Praxis and others for working through the issues. As was indicated, you need to play with HDR size and star size/brightness to get the effect you want with the system you have. At this point, my own system is anemic in CPU - i7 8700 I think - so for the promos, this is what worked for me. (I also live in the suburbs and haven't seen the fantastic skies you can get out where there is no light pollution
. To me, they look great and better than the pre-done HDRs I have seen in the store)
TruSky Nights will be faster in D6 compared to DS4.24 - this is a product of the new scripting engine and nothing to do with TruSky Nights. I encrypted this so it will work with 4.22 (which is the oldest version of Daz Studio I have now) and above. If Daz ever fixes the bug where you cannot encrypt to an old version anymore, I will re-submit.
I am favoriting this thread so I will get notifications in the future.
@Riversoft Art ...thanks for stopping by. I'm sure everyone on here so far appreciates your input. I'm an old cranky fart so if I sound somewhat unhappy or whatever, its me. I will still try things out and continue on. Experimentation becomes a bit difficult when it takes a longer time to generate, and I'm seriously impatient. I admire your tancity as it must have been a bit difficult to develop.
