Smart content Filter by Context broke out of nowhere

I dont know what changed recently but only 60 products out of thousands I have installed are now showing in Smart Content when "Filter by Context" is ticked on Genesis 8 figures.

This issue does not seem to affect Genesis 9 or Genesis 8 Male and only happens to Genesis 8 Female, which is also what it almost exclusively use.

 

The only thing I am noticing is that the Root seems different when Genesis 8 Female is shown in Smart content:

For Genesis 9 it picks: "Base"

For Genesis 8 male it picks: "Male"

For Genesis 8 Female it picks: "Genesis 8 Female"

Not sure oif this is even relevant.

    It's likely a product that hijacked G8F compatibility base and it's easy to check: load a G8F figure, select it in the Scene tab, then right click on the tab itself then Edit, then Scene Identification.

    The new window should look like this:

    If it doesn't, you get your culprit: when you check Filter by Context in Smart Content, Daz Studio will look at the compatibility base of what you have selected (for G8F, it should be Genesis 8/Female) and load all items having the same value in the Compatibilities field of their metadata. If, while creating metadata, someone replaced G8F Compatibility Base by anything else, Filter by Context will stop to work.

    You can fix it by clicking on the three dots at the right side of Compatibility Base, which will open a list of all the compatibility bases from the installed products.

    In the search field, type 'Starter' then cycle through the result (you should not have a lot) until you get to Genesis 9 Starter Essentials, then open Genesis 8 and select Female (using Starter as a keyword will get you there way faster than typing Genesis 8, due to the huge number of products using Genesis 8 in their name), then click on Accept.

    If it didn't automatically fix the autofit field, just fix the same way.

    Another solution: use DIM to remove Genesis 8 Female Starter Essential and reinstall it (it's just likely faster to fix it from Daz, but if you don't feel confident doing it yourself, DIM will fix it while reinstalling G8F Starter Essential).

    If you're able to identify the product who hijacked G8F compatibility base, you can always try to open a ticket to tell Daz.

    I am seeing Compatibility base "/Genesis 8 Female" instead of "/Genesis 8/Female" which I see on your screen.

    Any suggestion on best way to find which product is at fault as I tend to infortunately install all new stuff and we are in middle of sale :S

    Try reinstalling the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials.

    Just to update

    This and setting correct compatibility base fixed the issue. Now trying to figure out best way of finding out which naughty product caused all this mess.

    There must be a better way than reinstalling one by one dozens or so things I have installed in last week.

    Metadata comes as some sort of files I should be able to read?

    The metadata is in .dsx (XML) files, so not easy to read for a human (at least not as plain text). The metadata lives in /Runtime/Support/ in the content directory you installed to.

    However, reinstalling the problem product would just restore the issue (useful to know which it was so it can be reported, but that is a big ask) - reinstalling Starter Essentials would usually restore the correct, Daz metadata without having to do manual edits.

    The wrong product should have this line inside the .dsx file located in the Runtime/Support folder of the library managed by DIM:

    <ObjectCompatibility VALUE="/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female/Genesis8Female.dsf#Genesis8Female" REF="/Genesis 8 Female"/>

    So with any tool capable of searching inside the content of all the files inside a specific folder, I would search for that line or maybe just that part

    /Genesis8Female.dsf#Genesis8Female" REF="/Genesis 8 Female

    That's why I don't use "Smart Content"
    It is just not smart.
