Where's my content?

I was curious, so I installed DAZ Studio from scratch on a new system partition. Everything went well since I followed a set of install instructions I had made a while ago. 

The only thing I did differently was to let it install in the default location (which was on my boot drive). I then went into DAZ and directed it to my big content folder (which is on an external hard drive) and then deleted the link to the one on my boot drive.

Problem is - All of my content shows up in the Content Library's Products tab for DAZ and Poser, and the Categories’s> Default shows 50+ categories - which is great. BUT only a bare bones set of items shows up in the Smart Content tab.

When I click on the Figures category, only the figures found in the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials shows up. One or two hair product show up, and only 4 items shows up in the props (the starter essentials being one of them).

It is almost as if it is showing only the default items which were installed on my Boot drive. I even deleted that default content folder to see what would happen. No change.

Clicking the: “Filter by Context” off changed nothing. Clicking on the: “All”, "Installed”, and “Available” tabs changed nothing.

Why wont my content show up in the Smart content tab? What am I missing?

    If you go into DIM advanced settings > Installation, what path does DIM install to?

    And try to make a screenshot and attach of Daz Studio > Edit > Preferences > Content > Content Directory Manager with Daz Studio and Poser formats expanded.

    Here are the two screenshots that you requested - they both seem to point to the same location. 

    BTW: I inverted the colors on one of the screenshots to make it easier to read. 

    Reminder: I have DAZ Studio installed on two different boot partitions. The one that was made a long time ago works just fine - all of the content shows up, but only a handful of content shows up in this new (installed from scratch) one.

    I compared both DAZ Studio’s and DAZ Install Manager’s preferences line-by line for both boot partitions. They are exactly the same. So I don’t understand why one works but the other doesn’t. I must be missing something.

    Are the files theer in the Content Library pane under Daz Studio Formats>Daz Content?

    Yes. [Volumes/Orchid/Combined 3D files/DAZ Files/DAZ Content*] That is where it has always been and has worked just fine in that location.

    You said the content is where it always have been.

    Have you reinstalled the content or moved it?

    It has the asterisk in the folder name? That is a reseverd character, I thought. But I was asking if you had looked in the Content Library pane under Daz Studio Formats form the folder name, and if the content was available there.

    felis: No I have not reinstalled or moved the content folder.

    Richard: 

    1) The Asterisk has always been there. I doesn't seem to cause a problem.

    2) Yes, my 22,000+ content packages are available in the Content Library tab> DAZ Studio formats> DAZ Content* folder (see image). 

    However, my 22,000+ content packages are not available in the Content Library> Products folder. Only a handfull of packages show up there and in the Smart Content tab.

    This makes no since.

    That means that DS can see them, but the emtadata has not been added to the database (everything but the three ... Formats containers is built from the database). You could copy over the existing database (the Content Cluster, location set in Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings) with DS closed, or you could reimport metadata (Content Library option menu, the lined button in the top corner or right-click the tab>Content DB Maintenance, check Reimport Metadata, select all the products you want), or reinstall the content. The first has the disadvantage that you will lose metadatas from anything installed or saved on this system (unless you use Export User data from the Content DB Management dialogue first, then Reimport Metadata after copying the database across and select only user data) but it is quick. Reimporting a lot of product data will take a while. Reisntalling wil take even longer.

    Richard. I took your advice and did a test. I reloaded the metadata for 18 content packages. I then checked to see if they would show up in DAZ’s Smart Content - they did! Albeit one or two was missing a thumbnail or one of the items out of the list of items in that package. But I am pleased!
