poser content.

i have previously installed poser content into DAZ Studio by dragging the files into  Users/Public/public documents/My Daz 3D Library / Data//Runtime.  that was DS 4.5 on Windows 10.

I now have a new laptop  with Windows 11 running DS 6.   instaling to the same directory tree doesnt work - DS cannot find my files.

so how do i instal Poser content onto DAZ Studio 6?  does anyone know the directory tree?  i should mention this computer has SSD, so  a lot of content is posted to the cloud.  i am confused.

    What are your content directory settings? Whata re ytou dragging - usually the Runtime itself would be the top level folder in the zip, or the firstr down if the zip had a Content or My Library folder at the top..

    well that's just the problem - i dont know what my content settings are.  I put a runtime folder in  C:users/purplegnome/documents/daz3d/studio//mydazcontentlibrary/data//cloud/1.42071/, but that doesnt seem to work..  maybe i should uninstal DS4.25, because that might be confusing things.

    p.s.  i used that directory tree because that was the only place search could find a runtime folder

    DS4 and DS6 can be installed on the same system without problem and can use the same libraries (if you set the same preferences in both, that is).


    The directory you listed in you latest post looks like a path for content installed with Connect (from within DS). Manually installing content in a Connect directory won't work, DS only sees what was installed via Connect in those directories. You need to install that content in another content directory.

    The Public Documents directory you listed in the first post could be a good place, but the path you posted is not right: Runtime should not be under Data but at the same level. Data is a technical folder so whatever is there doesn't appear in content library.

    And if you are dragging anythingn into Runtime it should be the contents of an existing Runtime folder in the zip, having one Runtime inside another will not work. Unless you are on a mac the simplest instalaltion, if you cannot or do not wish to use DIM, is to drag the Runtime folder to the content directory you are using where it will merge with the existing Runtime.

    You can open your existing Poser content directory by right-click in the Content Library pane on the container under Poser Formats after Daz Connect and selecting Brows to Folder Location, then drag the Runtime from a zip into that. Right-click on that folder again and select Refresh to get it to show the files you just added.

    thanks guys - i'll try that.  but first i'll drag the files out of where i  originally put them.  i dont want to make a mess here.

    You can install your Poser content, where ever you want to, you just need to tell DAZ Studio, where to find it.
