I started noticing him after the movie "Legend" as the big horned demon.
I only know him from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but that one is very likely among my top 10 favourite films, and I enjoyed the part he played.

I love Legend! I first saw him in Clue, which was hilarious, and then Rocky. We used to go into Harvard Square, Cambridge to see it late night Saturdays back in the day. Good times. This is so sad.
So, when I was young, I took my sister to see a musical, which had Tim Curry in it because she was a huge fan. After the musical, I took her to the stage door because I wanted her to get an autograph. \ Suddenly my sister became shy and so I prodded her to get the autograph. I walked up to Mr. Curry and said to him my sister is too shy to get an autograph so be gentle with her as it’s her first time in a kind of adult naughty tone. He understood the tone, and said in a very Tim Curry sort of way: “I’ll be extremely gentle” in a slow voice with an upturn smile. My sister got the autograph and loved it so that’s my Tim Curry story.

Oh man, another one gone .. In my youth in Berlin (Germany), we used to go see the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Waldbühne venue in summer, students and teenagers mostly, but also older fans. People dressed up, and everybody knew every line and all the songs, play acting and singing along with the big screen. A great spectacle, and so much fun. Well, I do hope he managed to escape from the trip back to Transylvania somehow and now is somewhere where they will truly appreciate his mad genius.
The first time I saw Tim was back in 1992. They were airing the first part of IT late at night. I was alone, very young, and that movie became the best horror movie I had ever seen. I clung to my pillow the whole time. Amazing. Thank you, Tim.

Legend, Clue, IT, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Three Musketeers, Muppet's Treasure Island, Home Alone 2, and a billion other roles — He was awesome in everything he did.
Tim Curry for me seemed ageless. I can't compute he is gone. Or will he live on forever in the wonderful movies he was in and give joy to countless generations not yet born?
His Pennywise was absolutely amazing. Hard to believe that for years, he didn't even acknowledge that he played the part.
I also have fond memories of his part in Scary Movie 2 and as Rooster in Annie.

He also appeared in the Rocky Horror remake (with Laverne Cox as Dr. F) as the Criminologist/Narrator AKA "The Man With No Neck."
It wasn't that he didn't acknowledge it... he was the top billed performer in the show, after all, so it would have been silly to deny it. However, in one of those great ironies, Curry himself admitting to having a strong aversion to clowns in real life and he tended not to talk about it due to the subject matter creeping him out. I also suspect that he tried not to let iunterviewers focus too much on that one part as he'd already spent years trying to get producers to think of him in something besides Rocky Horror to the point where he refused to play a role when they made the "it's not a sequel, it's an equal" followup to RHPS, Shock Treatment, and really didn't want to switch that for being the evil clown guy in It. As it was, a huge portion of his film career was spent being doing voicework for animated films and TV series rather than on-camera roles.
