Adding overlays to thumbnails

I have a bunch of products that I would like to add image layers to the icons in the product.
As an example I added this "G3F" layer to this thumbnail by hand.

I'm looking for something that will let me select items and then add layers to their thumbnails, as well as ideally creating regular and tip images.
I see two items in the store that may do this:
https://www.daz3d.com/icon-creator-pro
https://www.daz3d.com/thumbnail-mastery
Both look promising but they only mention creating entirely new icons not modifying already created icons.

Yes, there is a way. You create new "Groups" to use with the "Group Asset(s) As..." command (from right Click on one or more assets in Content Library or Smart Content)
You basically have to make your overlay image, with specific naming conventions and place them in specific locations for Studio to include them.
Filenames must be and integer followed by a period then the name of your group. Format is 91x91 px, png to allow for transparency.
i.e.,
1.G3F.png
2.G8F.png
etc.
Location: "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\resources\images\groups" in two sub-folders "assets" and "products". It is important that they are in both sub-folders. Once you have your groups set up, restart Studio, and they should appear in the "Group Asset(s) as..." list, beneath New and None. You must place them in all copies of Studio that you have installed, like General Releases and Public Builds.
There is official documentation in the Documentation Center, but for the life of me I cannot find it anymore.
Just bear in mind that a product or file may belong to only one group, so an update that marked the file as New would remove it from your custom group.
That looks like it will work. I will give it a try.
Thanks.
Good to know.
Fortunetly the products I need to do this for aren't from DAZ so that shouldn't be a problem.
Icon Creator Pro does have an option to update existing thumbnails without rendering them again.
Edit: it was added with version 1.1

Yes, I use that feature all the time to distinguish thumbnails for different generations when they have identical thumbnails in products that support G8 and G9, for example. It is very useful to have these overlays on thumbnails when viewing Smart Content in Product view. You can add different overlays in different locations on the thumbnail if you want to, and see all of them. Of course they obscure part of the thumbnail, so you don't want ot get too carried away!
This is exactly what I need them for. The grouping is working now but I have some that need multiple overlays so I'll have to lookinto that program.
