Problems with Updated Now-Crowd Billboards

@RiverSoft Art,
During the past several days, updates have appeared in Daz Install Manager (DIM) for a few of the files in several of your billboard products that I have. After installing them, I discovered today that the scripts Now-Crowd Change Billboard Angle.dse and Now-Crowd Orient Billlboard.dse do not work in the following updated products:
- Now-Crowd Billboards – Alien Civilizations
- Now-Crowd Billboards – Modern City Life
- Now-Crowd Billboards – School Life.
However the above referenced scripts do work in Now-Crowd Billboards – Santa’s Elves even though it was updated as well.
This is what is in the Troubleshooting log file:
2026-08-04 20:21:44.496 [INFO] :: Loading script: E:/My DAZ 3D Library - Elements SE E/scripts/riversoft art/now-crowd billboards/now-crowd change billboard angle.dse
2026-08-04 20:21:44.496 [WARNING] :: Failed to load script: E:/My DAZ 3D Library - Elements SE E/scripts/riversoft art/now-crowd billboards/now-crowd change billboard angle.dse
Do you know if something in the updates to Alien Civilizations, Modern City Life and School Life broke the two scripts in each product?
Another of your products, Now-Crowd Utilities, has not been updated since I originally installed in in 2023 and its scripts, Now-Crowd Utility – Change Billboard Angle.dse and Now-Crowd - Utility – Orient Billboard.dse, do work.

Comments
You might try posting in one of the Now-Crowd threads, which I think Riversoft Art monitors.

My guess -- and it's only a guess -- is that the updates are intended to make the scripts work in Studio 6 -- were you using Studio 4.24 or Studio 6? Maybe they work in one and not the other version?
The forum moderators get upset when you post the same message in two different forums. :(
I had just come back to this thread to update that I was using Daz Studio 4.24 on a Windows 10 laptop. I'm going to explore what happens on another computer that running Windows 11 with Daz Studio 4.24 and 6 but where I have not installed some of the billboard updates.
UPDATE
I just tried the School Life, Alien Civilization and Modern City Life products and the same error occurs in Daz Studio 6 when I try to run the Change Angle and Orient scripts. The log file for Daz Studio 6 provided slightly more detailed info though:

Not in this specific instance. Ask the mods to close this thread and go post in RiverArt's Now Crowd thread. You want to make this as easy as possible for the PA.
OK. Will do.
@Richard Haseltine.
Please close this thread and merge it with my short post to RiverSoft Art at https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/270591/released-now-crowd-billboards-school-life-and-asian-school-life-2-products-commercial#latest.
Thanks.
DS 4.24.0.4: I have the updated Now-Crowd Billboards – Modern City Life and Now-Crowd Billboards – School Life. I can confirm that Now-Crowd Change Billboard Angle included in both of those product updates does NOT work in DS 4.24.0.4. I did not get errors in the log file, and the log claims it executed successfully, but it didn't do anything at all to change my scene. Now-Crowd Orient Billboard in those updated products DOES work correctly for me DS 4.24.0.4. I don't know why my experience is slightly different than yours. I may have different versions of some of the "common" script files that the main scripts use.
DS 6.25.2026.19821: Now-Crowd Change Billboard Angle and Now-Crowd Orient Billboard included in Now-Crowd Billboards – Modern City Life and Now-Crowd Billboards – School Life DO work in DS6 latest beta. However I get WARNING messages over and over in the log file that "Global include() is deprecated. Refactor ... to use require().
My guess is that updates were made to work with DS6, and compatibility with DS4 was not regression tested by the PA or Daz QA. Only RiverSoft Art will be able to resolve this, I think.
Thanks for your input. I am running the last DS 4 version that kept 3Delight - version 4.24.0.3 which is one version earlier than what you are running. I did get the scripts working in 4.24.0.4 though as follows
I returned to DS 4.24 on my laptop to explore further and noted that all three of the Now-Crowd Billboard product use the same script files. I went back to the original Alien Cavillations zip file that I downloaded when I bought the product in 2024 and extracted its files from 2017. I copied the Now-Crowd Change Billboard Angle.dse script file and the Now-Crowd Orient Billboard.dse script file to my DS library at \Scripts\RiverSoft Art\Now-Crowd Billboards to overwrite the script files that the updates installed. The two old script files work!
But now they might not work in DS6. Maybe you don't care about DS6 at this point. If that is the case, you have a successful workaround.
Note that several Now-Crowd prodcts were updated TODAY (Aug 04),presumably to update the scripts. I am currently downloading to first part (which has all the scripts) of several to see which have actually changed. Since there are many common scripts, installing an older product will revert back to the older versions.
I haven't gone back to DS 6 on my desktop to overwrite the newly installed scripts with the ones from 2017. I'll try that tomorrow and I suspect (hope) it will work.
I look forward to your analysis of the update quality. I'll hold off until then. I'm real tired of updates that break things that used to work. It reminds me of the bad old Daz Connect days. I've sworn off Daz Connect forever.
Okay, there are basically two versions of the scripts included in each Now-Crowd product.
One is from literally yesterday 2026-08-03 (or 2026-08-04, same size), the older one is from 2026-07-09 or 2026-07-15 (same size)
None of the newer ones work in DS4 or DS6. Tried them on the new content they came with, and the older content. Sorry, Tom. I have not installed the Now-Crowd Utilities product, as it appears to be several years old.
The newer updated packages (from Aug) have utility scripts (not user-facing) in "/data/RiversoftArt/2025Common", whereas the older ones (even from July) have have their scripts in "/data/RiverSoft Art/Common/", so they use different sets of data.
I installed one of each Now-Crowd sets (Aug and Jul) to test, using both sets of the user-facing scripts from the Scripts folder ("old" and "new"). The old scripts run on both DS4 andd DS6, but the "Change Billboard Angle" does nothing other than face the camera if that option is chosen. The angle does not change in the live preview, nor after accepting. It does work properly in DS6 in live preview and when applied.
The older "Orient Billboard" and "Move Away" work properly in both DS4 and DS6.
In short, still needs work.I have included a table of the Now-Crowd products with some relevant info exported crom DIM (I have all but three). You can see there are two versions of the three user-facing scripts that are included in each product. Installing an older one last will at least get some functionality, beacuse those user-facing scripts are common to all (not the ones in the data folder, though)
ETA: Another one has been updated today (similar to the others from yesterday): Now-Crowd Billboards - Modern Sitting Crowd. I expect there will be more soon.
And two more: "Now-Crowd Billboards - Sailing the Seven Seas" and "Now-Crowd Billboards - Future Life (01of13)"
