DAZ constantly crashing

One of my assets must be corrupted because DAZ is constantly crashing when trying to do an IRAY preview. It depends on what clothes I put on Gen 9 that causes it to crash. It wasn't doing it before so I think that its one of my assets thats corrupting DAZ. My character, when I pose it, get deformed becasue other character properties get mixed in. How do I problem solve this? How do I know which asset is corrupting DAZ? Do I start removing assets one by one until everything works? There has to be a way to figure it out, yes?

    Are the fans spinning? Have you checked temperatues, with something like GPU-Z or HW Monitor?

    not a computer problem. its a software issue. Characters work fine. Certiain clothes, hair and objects cause Daz to crash. as soon as I change the viewport from texture to NVidia. Daz disappears and a tiny window with "please wait" text and a tiny moving green bar on the bottom appears then I get a bigger window on the bottom with "Daz crashed..." see pic.

    I been using DAZ since 2014 or so. I sort of familiar with it and I know that sometimes I'll load a new asset which causes Daz problems. I usually unload it and Daz returns back to normal. However I've forgotten what is new and I have a bit of G9 content to delete and repload so I'm wondering how to troubleshoot Daz and find the culprit?

  • I also recently returned to DAZ after several years, updated to DS6, and when I try to render get the same issue/crash. Never had this happen in the past; hoping there is some element of user error and rustiness that I can work out. (also apologies if this double posts).

    Click the More button, save the crash report, and attach it to a post.

    Your driver coulkd do with updating, you are curently limited to CPU rendering in which case your 32 GB of memory may be runing out, or theer may siomply be a bug/crash-triggering incompatibility:

    2026-08-06 14:54:43.845 [WARNING] :: \src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(418): Iray [WARNING] - CUDA:RENDER ::   0.0   CUDA   rend warn : CUDA module initialization failed.
    2026-08-06 14:54:43.845 [WARNING] :: \src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(418): Iray [WARNING] - CUDA:RENDER ::   0.0   CUDA   rend warn : The version of your CUDA driver is 12.5, but 12.9 is the required minimum
    2026-08-06 14:54:43.846 [WARNING] :: \src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(418): Iray [WARNING] - CUDA:RENDER ::   0.0   CUDA   rend warn : Please update your display driver (current version 555.97) (www.nvidia.com) to at least 576.02.

    the crash certainly appears to be driver related:

    I shall have to make do with a glow of virtue. I am glad it helped, anyway.
