Is it worth upgrading to a Xeon processor?

Current system has the following:

Intel Pentium E5500 @ 2.80GHz (2 core)
ASUS CM5671 (LGA775)
16 GB RAM, GeForce 960 4 GB

I'm really enjoying the boost I'm getting from the new GeForce 960 card. And now it's got me wondering if it's worth upgrading to a 3+ GHz quad-core Xeon.

I've seen decent chips (for the 771 socket, but they can easily be adapted to the 775) in the $50 range. Toss in a new cooling system for about $25, and that's not much money for an upgrade.

But would the slight boost in clock speed and the two additional cores be worth the upgrade?

Any thoughts or chip suggestions?

I don't think Asus CM5671 supports Xeon by official bios. You might need a bios mod to run Xeon processors.

You are correct. I'll have to do a BIOS mod. I don't think it will be much trouble.
