Help getting a model from Blender to DAZ

I've been messing about with trying to get some models from Unreal to DAZ. I can get the models into blender and they look fine but when I export it for DAZ the UV mapping gets screwed up. I've tried using the Blender to DAZ script as well as just exporting the object as an OBJ and as an FBX file. In all cases the model comes into DAZ with messed up UV Maps. See the first two pictures of the model in Blender and then in DAZ.

I don't know much about Blender but I think I found the problem. Sprinkled through the material settings are references to UVMap.001. (see 3rd pic) If I change them all to UVMap then the model looks like it does in DAZ so I assume that it is some kind of alternate UV Map.

My question is how do I "bake" that alternate UV map into the model when it gets exported?

If you export the OBJ twice, once for each UV map, then after importing the base model and selecting it in DS you can use the Edit>Load UV Set command in the Surface pane option menu to bring in the other OBJ as an alternative UV set. You will then be able to specify which UV set any given surface should use. IN DS the UV set is a per-surface setting, not a per-map setting.

Another option would be to bake the map using the seconf UV set to a new map using the first, which should be possible in Blender but I am not sure of the steps.

Each OBJ can only store one set of UV, so you need to go to Blender > Object Data panel, select the correct UV map that you want... then export to OBJ.

this appears to be one of the current bimonthly FAB freebies

I rendered the FBX perfectly in Twinmotion

it was heavy but still imported

I cannot say the same for DAZ studio

it took 5 or more hours to just import with all the LODs disabled

its still trying to save the scene 10 hours later

I did a direct export import, not using Blender

most Unreal sets take a few minutes

just a lot of work manually assigning all the textures

I never got that far as always save first especially after 5 hours!

I cannot see this one being useable, it's at 50% saved so far

there are heaps of Tatooine inspired sets in the DAZ store BTW

It is a freebie from Fab. So far I've just been messing with the individual buildings and the Blender to DAZ is working nicely other than the textures. I'm not too interested in Tatooine (or Star Wars) stuff, I just wanted to make sure I could get it to work before I spend any money on the Humble Bundle sets. :)

I found the data setting for the problem objects in Blender and set them to the alternate UV maps and that has fixed the problems in DAZ!

    Thank you

Did my pictures get deleted? I can't see them anymore. I didn't see a notification, do they just autodelete after a time? It's not a problem I'm just wondering what happened.

well I import lots of stuff into DAZ Studio exported from Unreal as FBX, and never seen UV issues

just lots of work because they come in untextured

so I suspect that's from Blender

I cannot speak for this particular one though as it's still stuck saving at 65%

I am getting very annoyed by it
