It's so sad. I'm still waiting for a genuine, classic Jurassic movie, and now I can only collect Dr. Alan's costumes on DAZ and try to recreate them myself.
Terrible news. He was a tremendous actor, and by all accounts a delightful person.
He was great in the movie Event Horizon. Just terrible news.
New Zealander's who loved him are in a state of shock, he was the kindest, gentlest, most humble of men and we will miss him so much. I thought we would lose him earlier when he was diagnosed with cancer but he beat that and I think we thought he would be another David Attenborough and live for many years more. We were wrong. Takoto mai, e koro, kia tangihia koe e ō iwi. Haere rā!
Like a lot of people, I was introduced to him through Jurassic Park, and over the years found out little by little how deep his horror roots go.
Sad news indeed (RIP).
I've not seen him in many movies, but he always came across as a likable actor no matter what role I saw him in, and I thoroughly enjoyed Event Horizon!
Very sad news, he was a great actor. RIP
I enjoyed him in the dark humour movie, Death in Brunswick
he was a very versatile actor
so sad that he passed after apparently being in remission
This is really sad news. As a kid who loved dinosaurs, I was a big fan of his because of JP's Dr Alan Grant. Liked him in Event Horizon and In the Mouth of Madness too. He will be greatly missed.
One of my favorite actors.
I just read a list of films he was in. Wow, he was in a lot of stuff.
The favorite one that I've seen is "Merlin" ... TV mini series from 1998. Strong cast, and highly enjoyable.
Oh, I'm very sorry to hear this sad news. I also enjoyed him in his movies esp. Jurassic Park ~ 78 is still young... RIP ~~
Pneumonia took him https://www.rnz.co.nz/life/people/celebrity/sir-sam-neill-s-cause-of-death-revealed
I watched The Hunt for the Wilderpeople in his honour last night.
So many great films/TV shows, and such a great guy.
As well as the aforementioned Jurassic Park, Event Horizon, and the Merlin mini-series, I'll also remember him for The Dish (comedy film about Australia's role in the moon landing), and as Cardinal Wolsey in The Tudors series, among many others.
RIP Sam
