Toscana Plaza by Human (sku:93985) Buildings textures no longer match the promos

mrpenguin76mrpenguin76 Posts: 117

I bought this product Toscana Plaza | Daz 3D the day it released which was March 31,2024 and I know it did not have this problem when I originally bought it. Now all the buildings are the SAME color, and Worse, the Main (tallest) building now has REALLY bad UV's that no longer match the original Textures.  The Surface with the BAD UVs is Facade3.

This is what it looks like from the 1st Camera it loads with.

I did submit a ticket about this, but considering the last THREE that i submitted where quietly "SOLVED" without actually fix the problems, I won't hold my breath.  This is more about letting people with DAZ Deals see the issue if they look at this product, so they know they are not going to get what they paid for.

forgive me if this is obvious

and also I don't own it

but, did you accidentally save over your scene after unknowingly doing something?

    have you tried redownloading it

that said, I have 2 scenes by another PA, FUBAR newly downloaded using tif files not compatible with later DAZ Studio builds

and worse, messed up dsf data files truncated due to Chinese characters and nobody else seems to or answers

    check that too

it has some targa, tga files for the buildings

have tried converting those and replacing? (MSpaint will even do it albeit compressed)

No this is Literally from the Default Scene (well, it's a subset) that the Product has. The Texture files all load fine, This is what the Texture for  Facade3D looks like, with the Exported UV from the building for that surface overlayed on it in PhotoShop.

So it's pretty clear that at some point it had good UV's as they were originally used to Bake the Textures, and while it might look easy to fix this Diffuse Texture in Photoshop, (and the Rough texture) since it is only using one color, So you could basically just make a solid color Image, the REAL problem would be fixing the Bump and Normals maps for this, which is why it would be better if had it's Original UV's restored, and fixed the Color setup for the rest of the buildings, since they now all have the same color.

like I said, I don't have it and I too have encountered 2 products by another PA that are messed up so not ruling that out

just surprising they updated it with a broken version

Me too, also saw your Post about Magic Brushes Woodland Cabin and had bought that bundle at then end of last month, so a few days BEFORE it was $2.50, (DANG IT!).  I hadn't loaded it yet when I read your post, so thanks for the heads up on that one.

It looks like there are enough pieces of the Bump Map Texutres for the other Facades that I can disern the pattern that was used, and will be able to "Stich" together my own Tileable version of it, and then make a Tileable Normal based on that, and take that Building into MAX and straighten the UVs for Facade3 so I will have that part fixed, but that doesn't really help anyone else...

I had the same issue. I just changed the colour on the texture files. Facade 3D is the only one where the colours don't line up so I ended up shading the whole texture image.

Please report this as a possible bug, via a Technical Support ticket.

Not sure if that is a bug as all of the texture files have the same orangey colour. I'd say it's been like that since day one. More likely, IMO, that it was intentionally done as single colour by the PA. I mean, changing textures is easy enough even for a dinosaur like me.

honestly at the distance, IMO. albedo colours only on all the buildings and no bump or normal or a shared generic tileable one would suffice

a bit of depth of field too

From OP's screenshot, I would guess the PA unwrapped UV as well as  baked the texture maps for times. They correctly loaded the final version UV Set but assigned a wrong version of texture maps to Facade3 ~

I don't know why PAs use images at all in cases like this. If the whole building is going to be in that yellowy colour, why waste memory with that great big image? Why not just define it in RGB terms in the diffuse channel? Or, if you want to have some bump and normal going on, use a smaller tiled image.

Toscana Plaza was Updated by Human, and it looks great now. Couple of new touches other then just fixing the UV for Facade3. Thanks for the Update Human!  (yeah that sounds a little weird to me too... I KNOW YOUR THINKIN' IT!)
