When you have an item selected in the Scene pane, is there a keyboard shortcut to select the item's name for renaming?
Thanks!

There's no Rename action that can be asssinged with a keyboard shortcut in DS ~~
In Windows, the global Rename shortcut is F2... but F2 is assigned to Edit > Preferences as default. You can press F3, in Action List, go to Edit > Preferences, assign another shortcut, for instance, Shift + F2. See the screenshot 1 down below. Accept.
Then select an item in Scene pane, press F2 to Rename it. Be noted, this way only works in DS 4.2x. It doesn't work in DS 6.x.
Or, you can assign a shortcut to the action: Scene Identification... see Screenshot 2 (for instance, Shift + R). Then select an item, press Shift + R to rename Node Lable there. This way works in both DS 4.2x and DS 6.x
(Edit: Just in case... select an item first in Scene pane, a single mouse click on it, then Rename... is the way to Rename by default.)
@crosswind Thanks! Opening the Scene Identification dialog seems to be slower than just moving the mouse, though, so I'll probably stick with that. Or switch back to 4.2x to perform repetitive renames, then back to 6.x for other tasks. (I find myself doing that a lot these days to use scripts and such that haven't been updated.)
I feel this. I've changed how I organize scene file so many times. And opening an older DUF just make me want to update the naming conventions for the stuff inside.
I actually hate the clicking on stuff in the scene window to rename it as it happens accidentally selecting stuff, too often
sometimes leaving me with an item I didn't know the original name of and just a blank space waiting for me to type something in
... and all I wanted to do was anything but that, ie looking at parameters, unparenting etc
That's as annoying as the scene window thinking I've started a drag and now the camera has disappeared into one of the figure's thumb2 joint.
