Render comes out like a spiky ball rather than loving couple

So everything was going great. I was just beepoppin along and hit render and first, it took forever for anything to show up, but once it did I knew why. [picture attached] But I don't actually understand what is causing it. Can anyone help?

first image is render image, second is in viewport textured, and third is viewport nvida not fully rendered. It's just so odd.

Or, high displacement weight + high displacement SubD may cause this effect, which cannot be seen in a preview but a render.

Perhaps you can also check displacement settings on figure's skin surfaces and clothing/hair surfaces.

Looks like some of the issues I've had with dforce simulation...

Agreed, but such fun is visible in the viewport.
