Been using beta DS6 and find Release version sluggish

[Been using beta DS6 and find Release version sluggish] Subject title says it all, really.  Just my personal observation, not whining, not ranting.

Check that Edit>Preferences>Interface and the hardware tab of Render Settings match.

This is what I have as my current settings.   I think I have selected for speedier settings, but compared to the beta, Release Version feels slower.

With that setting your layered images will be slow, if you are using layered images.

I have noticed this as well. I ran the beta for over a month. The release isn't exactly the same in terms of responsiveness. (And not just rendering.)

  • Here are my interface and hardware settings. Not sure what is meant by they match.

Viewport is laggy and jumpy. Parameter sliders are basically unusable as they skip like crazy and I have to manually input numbers. I'm running DS 6 on Windows 11 with all updates. I know that not everyone is experiencing this, just want to know what settings I need to adjust to stop this lag. It makes using DS 6 very hard.

I meant check that the ones n DS 4 match the ones n DS 6.

  • There are some "interface" settings that are in DS 4 that are not in DS 6: Pixel buffer and pixel buffer size. I don't know if that matters in the performance of the interface like viewports or the parameter sliders. Otherwise, my settings are identical in both DS 4 and DS 6.

I installed 6 the other day and it looks fast. And it still renders with my 1080 and titanx.
But since it didn't link my directories automatically like the betas did, I haven't used it with 10,000 products in the content library.
Still trying to get it to hook to the directories.

I asked Victoria, she answered as below:

Those Pixel Buffer options are not in DS6’s Preferences because they were removed from the Preferences UI in this release, so they will not appear under Preferences → Interface anymore.
This is part of the Studio 6 modernization, where some older viewport and interface controls were retired or changed, so even if you load an older layout that used to show those settings, they still won’t come back in DS6.

Yes, it can impact performance, but it’s not because you’re “missing” a setting. In Studio 6, some older viewport controls were removed or changed as part of the modernization, so you can’t tweak them anymore.
What you might notice instead is that the viewport can feel laggy when you’re moving the camera or changing perspective, and there can be redraw delays after opening a scene (especially in Texture Shaded).

Also, some users report lag depends on which GPU is driving the UI (for example, an Intel integrated GPU handling the UI can feel slower even if you have a dedicated NVIDIA GPU).

I think there are a lot of issues with new progs and windows.
I have PS Beta and it runs beautifully except as a known bug in the beras the previews in many effects don't work
which should be okay because I have the PS 24, 25, and 26 and the previews work but everything in program windows jiggle, incessantly.
    ---
I still have a cs5 because the image processor can can a file full of object files and give my jpgs of them and there the cs5 64 doesn't think it's the pro version so I have to use the cs5 32 which does think it's pro so will look at the import object file description.
    And CS2 still works.
     ---
And for really far out take, try the studio driver.
My Fallout  76 was cdting but started working when I swtiched the computers to the studio driver when the 6 betas came out.
Then I discovered the studio driver can't see the titanX becasue the model I have was designed for gaming so nividia never put in the the gpus that the studio driver can see.
So I put the game driver back in to get my two video cards working and the game stopped working again.
    It's probably aliens.

Those were removed as superfluous in 6.25.2025.14815  -

Removed non-optional/obsolete preferences from the “Interface” page of the “Preferences” dialog

        “Per Pixel Shading”
        “Hardware Anti-Aliasing”
        “Display Optimization”
        “Backface Lighting”
        “Pixel Buffer”

Per Pixel Shading can be slow on non optimized geometries, aka multi layer HD, especially daz hair ribbons, so not a good idea to remove the option. 4K displays also don't help with pixel shading. If it means those options are now always active.
