Try I for free

Does this mean they are going to make you pay, like they did once before until people revolted?

DS6 works exactly like DS4, there's a free version and if you have a Premier subscription you have access to more features.

And for the record: DS always had a free version, even when there was also a paid for version. DS4 pro was not made free because "people revolted", having an paid-for version was a long accepted fact at the time as DS3 had one for years. Actually, there were more complaints when it was made free than when advanced and pro version were introduced....

What I recall was that I held off on buying the pro version of DS 3 or 4, in part because I had several plugins that were part of the pro package, and then several months later, they decided that it was all available for free. Regardless, it was the "try it for free" that worried me, as that can often mean (anywhere), that you can try it for free but if you want to keep using it, you must pay. I checked my serial numbers, however, and both the one for 4 and the one for 6 say Pro (free). It would be nice, however, if they indicated what tools you get with premier.

All a moot point for me because I am leaving town for 6 weeks and don't have the time to even attempt trying it until I get back.

I too would like some clarification.

The page about DS6 says it's "Free to download & try", I assume that's what they refer to

I thought there was a comparison table somewhere but I can't find it right now...

Here are the premier plugins I know of:

    • Render Queue
    • Shape Transfer
    • Pose Convertor
    • Geometry Sculptor
    • dForce Manager
    • Auto Save

I hope they will let us know which plugins will and won't work, though I suppose you can save in 4.24 and reopen in 6 if necessary?

Any basic scene saved in DS4 seems to work in DS6

Work in some plugins can be transferred - like Meshgrabber, the transforms you do with it must be baked as morphs and then they will display in DS6

Some plugins no - like UltraScenery

None of the plugins made for DS4 work in DS6, you need a version based on the DS6 SDK. So far only the Daz Original plugins do have a new version released as the SDK wasn't available yet to the PA.

Scripts may or may not work as is, some will also require an update.
