Thanks, then I'll settle for one version.

If I have items from multiple stores that don't use DIM, do I have to unzip those and recreate the daz file structure and rezip?
I also use Reallusion iClone and Character Creator.  Can I point to those folders as well?  I don't think they store as zips, I think they are all extracted upon purchase.
    Thanks!

I hope this isn't too many questions in one post.

    Searching questions:

    1) Can you search for things like: building, hair, Viking cloths, alien, etc.

    2) If not, what exact things will it scan for?

    3) Can you set up your own scans, e.g. Aien?

    4) Does all content from DAZ have tags?

    5) The promo page says: “Needs Review system flags products where a creator couldn't be confidently identified”. What exactly is a “Review system flag” Does the Mac platform have them?

    1. Yes, if they are part of the product name, in the tags, notes.
    2. It scans for product names, tags, notes.
    3. Yes, by adding your own tags and\or notes.
    4. As far as I know, yes.
    5. When Content Catalog can't determine a creator, it is flagged. One can then select the Review system flag and it will list all the products which appear not to have a definitive creator. The Mac platform is identical to the Windows one.

I really like Content Catalog for Windows (Mac version is there too!), and it seems perfect for what I'd need, but it says "Content Catalog is an application that scans your downloaded zip files," and that gave me pause, because I have DIM set up to automatically delete packages after the install, and if I have to re-download those packages manually, it would be over 5000 products (maybe about 4000 if I exclude stuff I don't have installed), that's a loooot of extra work for nearly some $18. Unless I'm missing some obvious solution? (It's early, and I've been awake since 2am, so my brain is slower than a GTX 1060).

Yes, it needs the actual downloaded zip files. You could re-download the packages in batches, spread over a period of time. What if you don't have internet, the server is offline? Besides, $18 is a fairly low price, and it could be even lower with tokens, etc.

I've just tried it with a non-daz file structure zip, it works.

Only zips are processed, so Reallusion iClone and Character Creator won't if they are extracted content.

Thanks for the clarification. I think I will buy it and see if it is easier to use than what I am currently using for cataloging.

Just so I'm clear on this, would it work with items purchased elsewhere? I do have zip files stored for everything that came from everywhere else and quite frankly, those are the things that tend to get overlooked.

First, I love the product, it complements the old P3DO Explorer perfectly for my goals (reinstalling most of my Studio content and filtering out the things I don't want to reinstall).

One thing I ran into with indexing my Rendo zips is that the process stopped with an error message that a file inside a zip was encrypted (see attached). I seem to have no way to scan beyond this point, pressing OK just closes the message and stops the scan. I've tried removing the containing folder from the scan list, doesn't work. The only way to get the programme to work is to manually delete the catalog directory and basically start over.

The strangerst thing is that after I worked out in which zip the culprit was hiding, and removed that zip from my Rendo zip directory, the error is still happening with a new scan. So is there some kind of shadow directory/index that I also need to get rid of? It all still works as long as I don't scan that folder, but it's a bit weird.

I guess you used the Scan Folder option? If so, try Rescan (Force).

     Okay:

    1. Regular scan of the problem directory. Run into 'encrypted' error.

    2. Force rescan.

    3. Rescan happens, programme crashes.

    4. Restart. Items up to the point of the 'encrypted' error are now visible. I can still not remove the directory in Manage Scan Folders. Trying to scan again crashes programme.

These questions have probably been answered already, but I'm not a techie and am having trouble following this. My questions are:

    1. I store my zips on external harddrives, since there's not space on my laptop. Will I be able to tell this to scan the zips on the hard drive and have it still work?

    2. What about products that I own but have never downloaded?

    3. Does this product require Daz to be opened, or is it a completely separate application?

    4. Does this only work with Daz 6, or will it work with earlier versions of Daz as well?

Thanks, and sorry again for any redundant questions!

Very weird. I'll look into that.

Just out of curiosity, which product\zip contains the zip with the encrypted file?

    1. As long as it can see the external harddrives, it will scan them.
    2. You need to download them, it can only scan the actual zip files.
    3. It is a standalone application, it doesn't care about which version of Daz you have.

One thing you can try in the meantime - open Content Catalog, click on Settings and make a note of the Current location of the Data folder (you can select and copy it). Close Content Catalog, open the location path of the Data folder in File Explorer, and delete the files in that folder. Restart Content Catalog, it should start as a new application. Make sure the problematic zip is not in your Scan folder(s).

Thank you for your response. Yes, $18 is definitely a low price for a product that catalogues all the zips.

But I was pointing out when one doesn't have the zips, the price is not just $18. The price includes the time to download everything as well, at the rate one values one's time. I have to pay $18 and then spend however many hours of my own time manually re-downloading over 5000 zips. That's not going to be quick. With that many products, and with the work involved, it's likely the cost of several hundred dollars paid in time for me (even if I don't value my time all that high), which makes the product much less attractive price-wise. And this is what I was saying. Your product is awesome, but realistically, for me personally, it does not cost $18 but much, much more.

I don't understand the comment about not having the internet or the serve being offline. All my products are downloaded (except for some odd 1000 that I wasn't interested in but were part of a bundle etc.), so even if Daz disappeared right now, I could still be happy rendering. The only thing I don't have is the zips that your product required to run.

ok, i really love this app. Scanned all 4600 or so installed products in just a few minutes. Didn't have any errors except for some creators were not assigned, but a one button click quickly fixed that in seconds. I love how easy it is to fix thumbnail images, the search is super fast. instantaneous really. Its everything I need. Just one request if you ever add any features: A way to bulk add tags would be great. For example being able to control click a bunch of clothing items, and then adding the "skirt" tag for example for those items that are skirts but they aren't actually called skirts. But I can obviously do that individually rather quickly but bulk adding tags would really be beneficial.

    Answering everything...

Cleaning out the Data folder: even with the problem zip not in there, the error pops up again.

I can add/remove the scan folder again in Content Catalog after restarting, so that part may have been a false alarm.

The product is a very old Poser one : https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/33046/dms-relative-gravity-2

The file that gives the issue is Runtime/libraries/props/!!DMRGravity2/Windmill.png. It's not visible when I unzip the product, but I don't get an error in 7zip or IZArc.

It may also be a Windows/local issue. I'm happy to try things, but it does seem to be very specific and as it's a Poser file I'm not planning to reinstall it.

    Hello,

I had been looking for a product like this for a long time, which is why I bought it.
    Now, here is my question:
Out of the 60,000 IM zip files, only 10,692 are listed in the catalog!
    What am I doing wrong?

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 27,419
Why would you have to manually re-download the files? Can't DIM just download all of them while you do something else? I don't understand why manual intervention would be required, other to start DIM, select all products, uncheck install after download, and start the queue.

Click View Log at the top, click Clear Log and then Close. Do another scan, open the log and see what it says.

The NEW-FLASH-3 coupon code still works and brings it down to $12.24 so its a real bargain. I rarely buy things on launch but I just bought this because I've been wanting something like this for a long time. Probably going to be my last purchase until November.

IMHO, it is a good offer even without the coupon, but I'm somewhat soured by the PA's dismissive response of the additional work needed to use this product, so I'm even more on the fence than I was.

I do apologize if you feel that I was dismissive, it wasn't my intention. I was merely making a suggestion, and suggesting possible scenarios.

I think the real quetion is how well does it handle zip files from other vendors or freebies from place like Rendo or Share CG?  I have thousands and thousands of those, some going back nearly 20 years, and there was a period where some artists were doing really weird things like putting zip files inside zipfiles or burying the actual runtimes three folders in, etc.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I’ve gone through all the steps, and now this error appears:
"That compression method is not supported"

    The scan then aborts!
However, the log file doesn't contain any further error description.

This is the kind of answer I was looking for when I first posted, hoping that I missed a solution. I'm not sure how to execute the advice, though: my understanding is that it would only work on the files that I don't currently have installed (and those are the ones I don't care about at all). I don't see an option to redownload already installed items, so here's my hope that you'll come back with some "well, duh!" solution I missed. :)

DoctorJellybean - all good. Plain text is really easy to misinterpret, and some communication is lost because of that. Do you mind answering one more question? Assuming that I'd get all those zip files, do I have to keep them after the initial cataloguing is done? My available external SSD and HDD space is limited.

I bought it for my MacMini. Too bad I didn't save my .zip for my Windows 11 laptop, so I don't need the Windows version. I have only installed about a two-thirds of my over 23,000 DAZ items and products from other stores.

Are the files all standard zips? It doesn't support .rar archives, as DIM doesn't.
