Emmy is a candidate for my monthly character coupon. I can actually use everything in the character bundle.

    enough with the expressions though.

They should stop doing those, they only accentuate how outdated FACS are getting. AlFan and PFA have several expression products that are actually new and unique expressions, because they are morphs, not pose presets / controls.

Most expressions are morphs. I can't recall any G9 expression packs that I own that aren't morphs.

The real issue though is they are morphs that load into every figure of that generation. And they sometimes also come with upper face and lower face copies. The main thing I use Turbo Loader for is to remove most expression packs that I can't uninstall separately and to get rid of upper/lower sets for ones I hang on to. My morphs count was cut by 25% the last time I noticed the numbers. I've noticed I've developed some distinct favorites and will probably cull more expression the next time I'm thinking loads are slowing down.

I didn't check all of them, but expressions by Jwolf or Censored 's Subtle Expressions are using FACS and not morphs.

They will be sliders that control the individual expression components (which are mostly bones moving the face).

I think you’re confusing sliders with morphs. About 99% of the expression products available are just presets built from the existing pose controls that move the bones from the face (Genesis 9 Essentials) used to create expressions, such as “cheek squint,” “eye corner tightness inner right,” “jaw clench,” or “mouth smile widen.

Yes, I probably won't use those expressions, especially if they don't have sliders. Nothing is perfect, and so far Emmy has more items in the character bundle that I could use than the other bundles. It's still early in the month, though and a new character could give her a run for my money.

Do they or do they not contribute to load time for the figure since the slider needs to be added to the figure? That load time is my problem with excessive expression packs and why I exclude them with Turbo Loader. I may not have to the terminology right. But adding the slider takes time for every figure loaded.

They will of course have links to other properties, since that is how they work. It was just calling them morph (sliding some vertices along a line between the base shape and a modified shape) that was confusing us.

Emmy herself seems pretty standard, design wise, but not bad. I can use most of the stuff in her main bundles but I'm especially excited about the variety of outfits.

Used the premier coupon on the character bundle and the daz originals coupon + tokens on the outfit bundle (one outfit from the character bundle further reduced the price of the outfit bundle)

Normally I save the daz originals coupon for bulk stuff on deeper sales, and I was planning to use the character coupon on Aro, but Emmy was interesting enough to divert both those patterns. :)

I like that Emmy's skin doesn't have the usual dark patch under her right eye like many of the G9 Core Figures have.

Yes! I do better with the defaults. The sets in the character bundles (any of them!), no matter how I adjust, always look either unrealistic or exaggerated.

That's because they ARE exaggerated... ;-) I get annoyed about it every time.

I don't know. Sometimes I enjoy the exaggerated expression. There are some really derpy faces, for example, in https://www.daz3d.com/grimaces--dialable--one-click-expressions-for-genesis-9 for example. Sometimes a cartoonish expression is perfect for a scene. And you can always dial expressions to 50% or 75%.

They don't look too good dialed in at lower values either. So, in DIM, I load the product thumbnail for those expressions, then I hide the item. Character bundles are basically four items for me, cuz those expressions are a waste of disk space.

Yes some of the characters facial expressions and poses are repetitive, but there is one I swear by, https://www.daz3d.com/pixie-9-expressive. It is by the PA @Neikdian the I have used those expressions on male and female characters, adults, teens, and children many times. Never full strength but blending them and often going into PowerPose and tweaking the face further. And not just for toons, they work great on regular characters. This was included in Pixie 9's original bundle, not sure where it landed if that bundle was torn up later.

My current favorite is https://www.daz3d.com/expressions-and-face-aniblocks-for-genesis-9 It covers a lot of ground by itself. (I've never looked at the aniblock half of the product.)
