My Frost Wolf Texture Add-on has no setting for the white fur advertised?

If anyone else has the Frost Wolf Texture Add-on linked above, do you see no setting for the white fur shown in the promo images, or is it only something I am missing on my end? I thought it should match up with the material labeled "M4", but all five and the default are only different shades of dark brown.

I'm otherwise very happy having wanted some cozy, wrapped boots like these for a while and love how they look. I was just expecting a white option for my snowy scenes or quickly making a custom shade.

I can manually get a completely white fur if I set the fur's image texture to "none" or I can get a silvery looking fur by swapping in the roughness map which is mostly white and grey. Yet it's a little strange that there isn't a material setting to match the promo, especially since the product add-on is entirely textures.

As I don't know if this is intentional or an error that could be fixed with a ticket, I thought it best to ask here. If anyone knows a better method that I am failing to see, I greatly appreciate any help.

// edit: I reworded the title a little to hopefully clarify my issue.

I am fairly sure something here is amiss. Maybe fjaa accidentally published an incomplete version? Otherwise, expecting customers to manually remove several textures to estimate the advertised "texture add-on" would seem rather backwards. If no one else says they see a setting for white fur, I may need to send in a ticket and hope eventually they add a setting that matches what is advertised... //

Has you actually tried to render the fur?

Yes, I have rendered all six fur material options. I thought maybe I'm selecting the wrong item when applying the presets, but even then, all the preset icons are brown and my results seem to relatively match those.

I thought then maybe it was affected by the fact that I installed several new products right before updating Daz Studio to the new version I had been putting off. So, I uninstalled this and the base outfit, restarted my PC in case that somehow was an issue, and reinstalled, testing on a new scene with the default G9 figure. I got the same results.

If you are, however, getting rendered white fur from one of your preset options, please, let me know. That way I'd at least know if it's only on my end or universal.

// I'll edit in any updates here so I don't bother the commons with unnecessary information. Since I didn't get any feedback here after a week, and the forums seem a lot slower moving than I remembered them to be, I've gone ahead and sent in a support ticket. Hopefully it eventually gets updated and fixed for everyone. So far I'm loving how the boots look with other outfits!

// My ticket has been closed. Support claimed the differences between the advertised images and the included fur settings is caused by external settings, lighting, and filters.

    That is absolute nonsense.

Below, I'll attach the collage comparison I sent them as definitive evidence. Additionally, there is an image I sent with my final message, after my ticket was closed, replicating the advertised white fur by manually removing all six image textures.

The four other fur sets that look perfectly fine in a default scene prove that the one wildly different, snow white set cannot be caused by external settings, lighting, or filters. I discovered in my investigation that there are only four fur texture sets unlike the five for other items. The M4 and M5 fur sets reuse the same image textures with the lighter highlights for M5 being caused by the highlight nodes having no textures assigned.

That makes me confident that the custom fix I am using is what was actually advertised. It looks like a perfect match.

I may save that as a material preset and put it in with the base product in case I decide to remove the add-on to save space at some point. As I said before, manually removing textures, is not something we should have to do for a product that is exclusively a texture add-on.

    That was rather frustrating.

Honestly, I feel as though they were using some level of AI to respond since they didn't even address the image evidence I sent. My collage may have accidentally worked like a CAPTCHA.

I have never requested a refund before, and I do not wish to start with something I truly love. Instead, I am removing my email from all of the sales notifications and fully taking a break from the store for the foreseeable future.

I think I'll try to channel my frustration into a positive direction. I've long missed many elements from Blender and have always been curious about learning a game engine like Unreal. I'll leave this information in case another user runs into the same issue. I wish you all the best. //
