Garrett 3D Studios Random Renders

garrett_3dgarrett_3d Posts: 157

Just somewhere to share my random stuff. Critique welcomed as I'm still learning and I'm the wrong side of 45 for this modern stuff, I remember when owning a C64 or ZX Spectrum was considered decadent.

My first piece, Aelindra training her pet dragon. Mythical/fantasy stuff isn't my usual go to genre, I just happened to have the assets and fancied doing something different while my main rendering rig is busy. I don't know if elves are supposed to be involved with dragons, but isn't that the point of fantasy stuff? There are no rules?

It looks like a fun little pict! It's very, very dark on my monitor, though, it's hard for me to make out any details on the dragon... it could be my eyes, I appear to getting older every day.

Very dark image on my monitor also.  Perhaps a light highlighting the character with the dragon to help bring them out.  Just an idea.

Is that a 'Swamp Dragon' (as per Terry Pratchett)? If so... run! It'll explode...

Actually, I rather like it. It is dark, possibly the flame emissivity could be upped, but I love the dragon's pose and the way it's perched on Aelindra's arm.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Thanks all, it is a little dark I agree. I shall have a play with lighting. The dragon I used is actually Crystal Dragon scaled down (a hell of a lot).

I've noticed my image is no longer attached to the first post. Hmmmmm......

I still see it attached when I open the thread. It doesn't appear when I open a link to a specific post though (just after posting for example)

I've just come back to the thread via the main page and the image is there. Weird.

Daz Studio offers a good set of lighting tools. Should you need a refresher, this short video is one recommend.  Through clear explanations and steps, it explains how to light a Daz scene by means of the three point lighting system.

    Cheers!

Cheers, I'll take a look when I get home from work.

After some experimenting with the Real Neon Signs asset, I've come up with this. Also used the new Lyra asset that was a freebie a few days ago. I changed her skin to Audrey 9, I was struggling with glare on her default skin.

Just another play about with some newer assets while the other rig is running a queue. Think I've overdone the green fog a little.

Is the green fog dangerous for the character or is she just climbing to avoid the gator-monster?

  • garrett_3dgarrett_3d Posts: 157

I hadn't really considered that. It could be toxic to a degree I suppose.

Had another play with the lighting on my Aelindra image. Somehow managed to hide the ground fog plane and change the camera in the process but it doesn't look too bad IMO.

Been toying with some yet-to-use assets. Abandoned Workshop, Alawa 8 HD and Leroy 8. Here we have Urbex Voyeur.

Don't know why I bought a submarine asset, but I did. Also used one of the first assets I got, Parkside Point Lighthouse. A very quick render, only took a couple of minutes, after about 20 minutes figuring out why my spotlight wasn't working (found the answer on here - environment settings).

Thank you. I'm still very much an enthusiastic amateur. I'm enjoying creating random stuff and trying new things out.

Thank you @SilentWinter for making the chess geograft/shader instructions easy for a dinosaur to understand.
