PowerPose Pins

Hey, been using powerpose for quite some time, makes my workflow faster. I've however tried pinning some of the limbs and welp the pins are like useless? They don't contribute anything they don't make tthe limbs stay in place. I'm probably missing something here.

However I had another question. The controls below are simple, but sometimes I just want to either bend down only or twist only. But it's not consistent, is there like a button where it forces powerpose to focus on a single direction? If so would be cool if you guys could share.

My Daz version is 4.24

Are you sure you ar eusing PowerPose pins, not Daz Studio IK pins? Power Pose doesn't use the bend controls directly - rather it bends to accomodate the translations madew with the PowerPose tool.

Hey Richard I'm talking about this, Idk what this is, for some reason my pic didn't post last time so I attached the image, these pins do nothing.

Also It's safe to assume I can just only bend down to a certain direction I have to just try and not accidetantly twist for example? It's not like blender where you can idk click x, z or y to go a certain direction?

While I'm at it is there more effective way to pose manually? Because either it's my charachters or it's just daz if I move a limb it just takes a few seconds until it updates, I have a 3090 TI and 48 GB.

The things I know that I found out a few weeks ago is that I can mix poses with Ctrl+Double click on pose. I'm just curious if there is more stuff that I can learn to make working with Daz a lot smoother. I tried using IK chains for animatiosn btw before it just didn't work feet don't stick on the ground I use instead limbstick which is good but not perfect :/

This might be releated to the pin issue?

Sorry, I was (not for the first time) mixing up Power Pose and Active Pose )which, to be fair, was originally called Power Pose).

The pins are quite weak, so yes it is very eassy  to dislodge them - this is a known "issue"/trade-off, I don't know if it is likely to change in DS 6/2026.

The other message is just telling you that you cannot modify the template (arrangement and links of the Power Pose pane) for that figure, you would have to start from one of the unlocked templates and rebuild from there if you wanted a customised set-up for that figure.

Terms of modifying? Do you happen to have any documentation or a video for it?

The DAZ-supplied templates are read-only, and there is nothing we can do to change that. However, there is nothing to stop us from making our own. I made a set for each Genesis generation based on information available and existing examples. They are free to use and modify as you like. Base functionality can't be changed, that is in the code, but you can customize what nodes and transforms (including Pose Controls) can be used. You can even add more templates, if you wish.

Take a look here: Alternative PowerPose Templates (Genesis 1, 2, 3, 8, 8.1, 9). There is no real documentation, but the thread should give you all the info you need to get started, but feel free to ask (use that thread for questions to keep all relevant discussions in the same place).

This thread both has some alternative templates and goes into detail on how they can be modified. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/602891/alternative-powerpose-templates-genesis-1-2-3-8-8-1-9/p1

Great! Note that the Pin behaviour is configured with the ActivePose Tool Settings (i.e.,where to pin, where to drag)

The issue with using these is you can't get PowerPose to default to those non-default templates. Disappointingly.

Sure you can. Many have. Let's discuss it over there...
