Where is the Mimic Lip Sync dmc configuration file for Genesis 9?

I've only started using Genesis 9 a bit. I'm pretty much still firmly in the Gen 8 camp, but I've started dabbling a bit with Genesis 9 and I can't find the Mimic Lip Sync configuration file. I'm sure there must be one. All the other Genesis generations have one included in their respective Starter Essentials packs. But I can't find the one for Genesis 9. I assume it is just in some weird place that I can't find. Anyone know where it is?

There isn't a dedicated .dmc file, but people do use the one from Genesis 8.1 https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/9204631/#Comment_9204631

My apologies for not responding to this earlier; I saw it, meant to dig out the info and got side-tracked... to many shiny new things, all the time...

As Richard pointed out, you can use the Genesis 8.1 to get most of your lip sync done. The only thing missing will be automatic eye blinks.

To get the eye blinks, you can duplicate your 8.1 .dmc file, rename it to something like "Genesis 9+" and make these changes to it in a text editor:

    Change "facs_bs_BrowInnerUpLeft_div2" to "facs_bs_BrowDownLeft"

    Change "facs_bs_BrowInnerUpRight_div2" to "facs_bs_BrowDownRight"

Change "facs_jnt_EyeBlinkLeft" to "Eye Blink Left"

    and

Change "facs_jnt_EyeBlinkRight" to "Eye Blink Right"

    Hopefully I copy/pasted that correctly.

If Richard says it's okay, I'll upload an edited .dmc file that I've been using successfully.

I don't think it would be OK, to upload a modified file, sorry. A script of some kind could make the changes (including copying and renaming the original).

I am pretty sure I actually read somewhere early on that a modification of the default configuration dmc file is redistributable

it's how people created them for standalone figures etc

I and multitudes of others have broken the EULA over the last 2 decades otherwise

I will try and find the licensing for Mimic

Thanks so much, I really appreciate that!

by the way there were a couple syntax issues which google helped me fix, the eye blinks should actually be:

    facs_bs_EyeBlinkLeft

    facs_bs_EyeBlinkRight

A peek at the Mimic documentation can be had here:

Anything I could find suggests that only .dmc files created from scratch are distributalbe. Seeing as how almost no one either uses or even *can* use the 32-bit version of DAZ Studio, and most of them are either using a version of Genesis 8.1 or earlier, or is using Genesis 9 and the 81 .dmc or a modified version of it to add eye blinks, I don't think any further research is worthwhile. The one or two people who run into the problem in the next few years will be few and far between, I'd imagie.

I asked HelpDesk to weigh in on it, so we can put it to rest one way or the other. Also for clarity, I also don't actually use Mimic. I assumed that Lip Sync found in the 32bit version of Daz Studio was part of Mimic, but now that I think about it, thats not really relevant. I use the Lip Sync that comes free with the 32bit version of Daz Studio. I use the DMC files included with that as part of Daz Studio. I've never installed Mimic, I've never agreed to a Mimic TOS, only a Daz TOS. So the DMC files I have are part of Daz Studio. So I think it should be up to Daz how I use those DMC files and not the TOS for Mimic 3.0 or whatever which I have never used. But in any case, I'll see what they say and let you guys know.

The 32-bit DAZ Studio lip sync is still "Mimic". DAZ, if I understand correctly, licensed it for the 32-bit DAZ Studio and never did for the 64-bit version, though they did for their other 64-bit Mimic plug-ins and products.

all dmc files created by Mimic pro from scratch use the default one preloaded which works with V4

you just use the obj tab to identify the available morphs in the cr2 loaded and add them to the various phonemes and expressions then export it

its how everyone creates new dmc files

you can but don't have to, strip out the original deltas listed for V4 for it to work

some of my personal ones have multiple figures supporting by leaving then in and adding more

editing in notepad is just the way to do it if you don't have Mimic pro

which is no longer sold anywhere

I still actually use Minic pro myself to create them as it's much easier

I only resort to notepad for things that refuse to export as a cr2 file with a matching obj

which is rare but it happens

but yeah, don't know now how we stand legally with the program gone forever

fortunately maybe, anything I did was probably on ShareCG anyway or at least buried somewhere on this forum never to be necromanced

I hear ya! I did my first AI lip-synced animation on Friday and I'm having a hard time even considering DAZ Studio for my hobbyist clips. I am just starting to look at installing ComfyUI locally to see how that might work; if I can get the same results as I can online, then I think that's my workflow for the next decade, should I last that long.
