Pose Controls for Death Strike Hair Ponytail?

As the title says, I was wondering whre the Pose Controls for the Death Strike Hair are located: https://www.daz3d.com/death-strike-hair-for-genesis-8-females

Here's what the PDF says about the controls:

"The hair itself has a chain rig, so you can pose it serpentine like, and make it blow
about with the outfit. The poses in the outfit's set also account for the hair (if you
own everything) Posing a chain rig is quite easy, however. For the best results, you will
want to select the entire chain on the braid, and use bend/side-side/rotate on all of
them in one fell swoop. Thereafter, you can pose individual joints."

However, I've selected the entire figure, just the head, neck, and first hair braid, but haven't found the 'serpentine' movement controls.

Also, all the other movement controls seem to have no effect (don't know if this is because I'm not using the entire outfit or not, though).  How do I select the 'chain' mentioned?

Any help would be apprecaited.

I think it is suggesting that you select all, or a group of, bones and then (if you have Consolidate Properties on, as it is by default) you will be bale to adjust them all together. I don't have the hair for checking, though.

Easiest way to do this is like it said select the Braid 01 Bone of the Hair, then right click and Choose Select all Children (I would also Right click again and choose Expand/from Selected...) THEN take your cursor and go to the upper left of the viewport to the POSE CONTROL BALL (probably has another name...) and hover over the Center White/Gray Ball, and notice it says "Pose:Rotate on all Axis... So go ahead and move the ball around a LITTLE!

and Voila! Serpant Tail... Then use the Red,Green, and Blue rings to fine tune it a bit, Or switch On "Universal Tool" and fine tune it by it's gizmo in the viewport.  (again on the axis...) You could also use the "ACTIVE POSE TOOL" to fine tune it as well. With that tool you might want to say, only select Braid 08, 09, and 10 and adjust only those three (drag them around in the viewport) to fine tune the tip. Main thing is that if you try to Adjust the Bend, Twist, Side-Side in the PARAMETERS tab, it will only adjust one bone (Braid 01 even with all 10 select as I am sure you are seeing) and ignore the others.

Also Richard it doesn't seem to matter when Consolidate Properties is On (checked) or Off for this one.

  • "Thanks!" for the answers.

I'll try them next time I load the hair again (been spending too long trying to figure it out for today ^_^)

Yes, that s a pane setting and applies only to that pane, not other panes showing the same properties.

What I meant was that with all 10 Braid bones selected and trying to adjust Bend, Twist, or Side-Side in the Parameters Tab only results in the Braid 01 Bone being adjusted, all other bones follow but their settings stay zeroed, whether or not the Consolidate Properties is checked. Do you think it's possible that it DID function in previous version of DAZ?  IngisSerpentus sure makes it sound like it could be done from the Parameters Tab.

Is Display Separate Items unchecked? That will stop the properties from consolidating. The labels on the sliders (Bend etc.) should have the number of nodes seelcted in parentheses before them - e.g. (10) Bend.

I have(/HAD) "Display Seperate Item" checked so I was only seeing as an example "Bend" on the Right, and all 10 Braid bones listed on the Left side... When Unchecking "Display Sperate Items" I then see (10) Bend... AND with "Consolidate Properties" Checked, it does indeed Bend, Twist, Side-Side ALL the bones in one go! So you were right on point! So it can indeed be done just from the Parameters Tab with the right settings!  Although, I did get better/easier results from the method I mentioned above.

Key takeaway for using only the Parameters Tab:

    With All Braid Bones Selected,

"Display Sperate Items" must be Uncheck.

    "Consolidate Properties" must be Checked.

  • Well, I'm still having trouble trying to follow the 'guides' here, so for now I'm defaulting to posing bone-by-bone, but I'll keep trying.

Again, "Thanks!" for all the replies ^_^
