LIE Editor absurdly slow

Currently using the L.I.E editor and this tool, as it offers very good features, is really ressource consuming, and almost unsuable. This is sad regarding the service it offers. I'm now forced to use the overlay solution on iray uber shader.

I feel like everytime I move the layered image, it calculates the whole new texture. Hence, every pixel moved takes an era to process and the image is never positionned as I would like it to be. It shouldn't do it until you accept what you're editing (do it only when you click "accept").

Am I doing something wrong ? Is there an option I didn't noticed or is this tool dommed to be slow ? If not, is it planned to fix this ?

There is a setting to make it faster:

With a LIE image I'm going to use more than once, I tend to track down the LIE image in the temporary directory that is the colapsed version of the LIE layers and copy it to a logical place. Then, I delete the LIE layers for the surface in DS and replace them with the saved colapsed layer file. I do this for diffuse, emission, glossiness etc. This saves a fair bit of time with images used more than once.

    Regards,

    Richard

The speed when manipulating images with LIE opened very much depends on the size of images ~~ If the images that you stack on the layers are 4K+, the speed will be pretty slow... even if you have a robust CPU. There's no way by now to improve its performance with latest DS4.2x / 6.2x ...

The LIE setting in Preferences serves for the baked layered image in temp folder, it can just improve the speed of opening / closing LIE as well as loading the stacked images ~~
