Losing a portion of the background

Referring to the attached image ...

... The image in the upper left is from the editor and the image in the lower right is how it rendered. Notice what is inside the red circle. A portion did not completely render. I've increased the number of iterations and even extended the render to run all night. That portion is not being displayed. No warning. No error message. That piece just does not display.

    It looks like the dome floor level is showing the horizon level. Try turning draw floor off in environment tab.

    Does the format you save the image in make a difference? I can't really work out what iiis happening, but if there is some transparency theer then a format like JPG (that adds a background) may produce different results from PNG or Tiff with no or a different colour background.
