Animation skips frames

Dear experts, 

I was trying my hand at animation. I imported a figure, with nothing added. Put her in A-frame pose at frame zero. Hit the "key plus" button. Moved to frame ten and had her crouch. Hit the "key plus". Went to frame twenty and had her raise her arms. Hit the "Key plus" button. went to frame thirty (the end) and put her back in the A frame position. Hit the "key plus" button. 
When I drag the triangle frame by frame, the figure does what you would expect, slowly interpolating between poses. When I hit "play" however, it only shows poses at roughly every eleventh frame, e.g. 4, 15, 27. So, it races through the sequence, not smooth at all.
Anyone know what I need to do to make the animation play frame-by-frame?

I have a nice machine with a RTX4090 card and 64 GB of RAM. Task manager shows system not being challenged much.

    DS is a poor tool for animation. It will try to play all frames at your chosen frame rate, but can't keep up, so what is needed is an option for force it to play every frame regardless of speed.
