"Good" Gen 9 Mermaids/folk?

I'm looking for mermaid/folk products for gen 9. I've looked at:

  • SY Elegant Mertail and Poses Genesis 9
  • FPE Shark Tail for Genesis 9
  • Royal Waves Bundle for Genesis 9 Feminine
  • Calypso
  • Octopia for Genesis 9
  • Undynnea for Genesis 9

And... no. Just no. Not to hate on the creators because those *are* really well made but, well "Tell me you know thing about marine life, without telling me you know nothing about marine life." Really, the only "Good" one that looks like it can actually live underwater, that has all the proper fins and gills and proportions is the shark tail, but thats a shark. I need a normal Merperson - gills, pecotrial fins, vent/slit vins, dorsal fin on back (why people insist on putting it on their butt I've no idea), webbed fingers, a scale texture that is sized right and doesn't look like its from a cartoon/anime, and actual solid fluke not a cutys fin mess that isn't propelling anything bigger than eel though water.

If I could, I would just make it myself because as you can tell I genually do not like what I've found, but I can't figure out geografts/pbr skin, so... I have money and I'd rather buy what I need than give myself a headache.

oh and yes I know of the gen 1/2/3/etc stuff but most of that doesn't map right and the mer stuff for 8.1 is a geograft and... geograft converters aren't a thing as far as I'm aware so I need gen 9

  • I agree, would love to see more dedicated merfolk options. I think here is where the artists would benefit from reading fantasy books with these characters to understand the concept of design. An artist who reads fantasy books with merfolk might be asking a lot though lol

I'm so glad I'm not alone here lol. Like I said what is on the market is *good* but the aquarist in me is *screaming*.

I think it's the Disneyfied ideas to blame

in folklaw they didn't even pretend the various cryptids appeared human, rather they beguiled their victims to think they were
