  • Does anyone know if this is "dForce" hair or polygonal hair? I honestly can't tell at all, and not much in the description points to either except the basic Materials colors. I assume dForce hair, but any help is appreciated.

There is no mention of dForce in the Compatible Software section so it's unlikely to use dForce.

I don't know if all Strand Based hairs has to use dForce hair or if they can be made without it, and on top of that, there is no readme, so no way to check it to check if more informations are available.

IMHO, Daz should ask that vendors specify what is being used in their pictures. Also, if hair is dForce, strand-based or something else.

My guess would be this one: https://www.daz3d.com/carter-curl-cut-for-genesis-9

Thank you.  That does seem to be it.  The panels below the item usually has the used items used in the promos but this hair was missing from the line up.

I loaded it up and it is strand hair. I had to look at the Surfaces Tab to see the options available. It is so dense, only a few strands show individually. With G9B in the scene, the hair has 1,267,342 vertices. There are 3 morphs. It seems to be set-up for simulation, but the density seems to keep it pretty much in one place. It might be very subtle. Ten preset colors, but it should be able to use Omni shaders.

Thank you very much, memcneil70. I should clarified my question. I thought 'dForce hair' was the same as strand-based. I like the hair with dForce cloth settings which is pretty much a thing of the past. But I am unable to use anything that is not the old style fibermesh or polygonal hair. Strand-based is not an option for me. Much appreciated for the information.

I haven't been able to view the Product Documentation page for nearly a year now. Maybe longer.
