ChangelingChick's BeardBoss for Genesis 8 on a Genesis 9 character?

Hello All! I've been wondering for awhile if anyone has any insight on using BeardBoss (meant for G8 male characters) on a G9 masculine character? Any particular setting that work? I've tried it before with disappointing results or it renders with odd shaping... don't really know how to explain it. I like using Beard Boss on many of my characters as it delivers so many options and customizable details. Any details or help would be appreciated!

    I do have the product and have had no problems fitting it.

    What I do is

    Load the Genesis 9 figure
    Load CC Beard Boss onto the figure and use autofit for a genesis 8 male and type unknown
    select the beard and zero any shaping, and then load the shaping preset

    I rendered CC Fawkes with CC Beard Boss (the Anchor Beard shape) and the CC Fawkes smile expression:

  • That worked well! I'm kinda embarrassed to say I hadn't tried it myself recently (before posting the question). I had loaded a Gen 9 figure several months back expecting the auto fit pop up to appear, but for some reason it didn't. Grateful that it worked this time! Thank you!

    there are quite a few strandbased G8 and G8.1 products I can autofit to G9 and simulate but if I save the scene, they are no longer fitted, (sit above the head) very frustrating for animated simulations

    don't have this particular one but there are many others that give me grief

    Fortunately, this isn't simulatable so you can just use it and all of its shaping morphs work. It is strand hair so that omnishaders look great on it.

    Hello! Thanks for tagging me, Elor :D I do still monitor all my commercial threads, though honestly I think Nemesis has more experience with the beard than I do at this point! I never get to render anything but new promos, and even that's been a rare treat the last year or so.

    The way I made the beard was to purposely try and make it do well with autofit as much as I could. I think one of the promos was on G3 (Ivan 7 to be exact), and another was on G8F (Olympia 8). The biggest issue will be with the shortest hairs around the chin. Those can get stuck inside a little.

    I have been (slowly) working on a beard for G9, but I definitely want to update it for current tech. That means dForce Hair, BUT I also want it usable in other programs, so that means poly hair :D I want to have my cake and eat it too. Also, I want to add more shaping options for it. There were several custom shapes and addon pieces I'd done for vendors and their promos that never made it to an addon, so I'd like to incorporate all of that. I'd also really like to improve the mustache options. I've also got a flow chart setup for the modifiers so they only affect the active shapes and not EVERY hair at once if they aren't active.
