How to render using Easy Environments' Winter Skybox

JWC25JWC25 Posts: 3

I know I'm probably missing something basic, but I cannot get the Skybox in Easy Environments Winter to appear in my render. I have been unable to find any videos or instructions that helps. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. I have tried using Dome only and Dome and Scene to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

    Skyboxes is used in 3DL render engine, which isn't supported any longer.

    And you can't use skyboxes in Iray.

    I am not sure how much there is the environment and how much the skybox. But I would assume you still can use the environment, but would need to find a suitable HDRI.

    For free HDRI you can go to Polyhaven https://polyhaven.com/hdris

    @Flipmode has a tutorial on how to deal with a 3Delight Skybox in Iray, either to keep it or to remove it:

    First, I would like to thank all for their comments. The props in EE winter do work fine, it was just the skybox that wouldn't render. Again, your comments helped immensely. I will try using the props with a suitable HDRI background.

    One of the ways I used it was to put the relevant .jpgs for each in the Cutout area under the Environment settings that way the light from the Iray dome shines through and you still get the backgrounds.

    @Elor
    Thanks for providing the tutorial link! ;)

    Sorry, for the trouble, it´s just an older set predating Iray.
    I hope you can still get something out of it. ;)
    The skybox conversion Elor linked to should be pretty quick to do. Using other HDRIs is a good option too, if you can find one that fits the scene.
