Whenever I add veins to my characters, I get pokethroughs in their clothing. This is happening for G3, G8, etc. Is this the norm or an I doing something wrong and is there a way to fix this other than removing the veins or making that part of the body invisible -- neither of whch is an ideal solution

There are a few work arounds. Some that can be done in DAZ Studio, and some that can be done in post. However, it depends on what type of image you're creating. I've looked over your DeviantArt gallery to get an idea of your art style...
If you're going for lose clothing, 1) I'd recommend either EXPANDING the clothing themselves to cover the veins. 2) Or you can INCREASE the RENDER SUBD LEVEL (in the PARAMETERS tab). This might help with the clothing covering over the veins. Do not increase the VIEW SUBD LEVEL. It'll cost more memory on your computer. 3) Also try HIDING the parts of the body covered by clothing. This will help with the poke through.
If you're going for form fitting clothing (aka the superhero suit look), you can do a lot in post editing. With programs like GIMP or Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. In DAZ Studio, there is the SPOT RENDER TOOL. It allows you to render certain parts of your image. If you notice veins popping through the clothing, spot render those images WITHOUT the figure beneath. Then merge them together in a photo editing program.
If you need me to expand on anything, let me know.
Best of luck!
If you know how to paint a weight-map in Daz Studio, a good solution could be adding a weight-mapped push modifier on the clothes.
As an example, here how a recent render of mine looked after it finished (I have added a red arrow because the difference may not be that visible):
To solve it, instead of redoing the simulation, I added a 'New Push Modifier Weight Node...' through the Create menu, then I switched to the node brush tool, opened the tool settings tab, added a new push modifier, selected all the geometry before using Weight Editing > Fill Selected > 0%, before painting the part I wanted the push modifier active which is visible on the following screenshot:
And I did a spot render:
Problem solved!
A whole video of what can be possible with a weight map and a push modifier:
And if you have any dForce clothes by Mada (semi-recent at least), she'll usually add a weight-mapped push modifier as a way to solve dForce poke-throughs.
Just to explain why this happens, and to say why it is not just you. Veins are normally added using displacement, however since auto follow of clothing does not look at displacement this is what causes the poke through. You have to then use some of the tricks mentioned above to get round the issue. Veins are sometimes done with HD morphs, and I am pretty sure auto follow ignores HD morphs too, so you will get poke through then as well.
thank you
