Scrunchies

I notice that a lot of the strand-based hair has ties also made from hair. Looks a bit odd, I think. For instance,

I looked for a scrunchie or hair ring on the market place, but there were none. Some wigs are sold w scrunchies, e.g.

so it is possible to make them.
Any idea why it is so? Now that I have noticed the unnatural hair rings, I can't unsee it (O:
Have a great weekend!

I have sets of hair ties (including a scrunchie) in these sets. They are for G8, but can be used on G9 hair by using the zero props and manually adding them. Set 2 has the traditional scrunchie. I would position them in default pose first, then parent them to the head of the character so they move with the hair.

Wow, that worked. I bought both your sets in gratitude.
Thanks, NewGuy!

For anyone wanting to replicate this, you grab the "zero prop" at the bottom of the "NG...Hair Accessories" content page in Daz, and left-click drag it to the hair. If you hover, a menu will open. Pick "Parent to...". You may have to experiment to find the right bone to parent to.
Then play a bit with the orientation of the accessory.
The materials buttons work, so you can choose from the many patterns included.
Happily, if you move the head of the figure, the ties follow beautifully. Love it.
Is there a way to fit the ties using progressive shrinking of the ring or elastic? That would mimic how the rubberband compresses the hair.
If you use the Playrange imulation then you should be able to have an object shrink down from an enlarged state to gather the hair.
if you want to be really clever you could dforce a torus
can select a loop inside with the geometry editor and asign a new zero simulation material and then scale it down along the timeline to gather it and have it scrunch up too, will need enough subdivisions creating it
I made cute pigtails with scrunchies.. https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-dokidoki-hair-for-genesis-9
Looks great. And super-nice renders! I have added to my wishlist! Also, your Faustian Fringe hair.
Sounds like a great idea, except I have never done such a thing before.

Maybe a nice new product for NewGuy or ChevyBabe.
Thanks, Richard, that I know how to do. I will try that with NewGuy's ring. Someone should turn this into a product. Not much competition in the scrungie market place.
