Crashes with DAZ 2025 rendering.

Hopefully someone with more experience or know about this issue can help me.

I have to use 2025 to render because I have a RTX 5090. When I render, if I have a web browser open or anything taking abit of processing power (i.e. movie playing) I get a crash of DAZ 2025 (usually around 2-3 minutes after the start of the render) with a black screen for 1 minute and when my screen come back, I lost my background wallpaper with all my desktop Icons and obviously the render is no longer there(the software crashed).

The only way I manage to get a render done is if I reboot my computer and do not open anything (only DAZ 2025) and render it without touching my computer at all. As soon as I do anything that ask computing power while rendering, the computer will freeze, DAZ will crash and I get a black screen.

Here are 3 exemples of the Event Viewer after crash:

---------

Google is saying that libneuray.dll error is most likely related to my GPU shaders

So I made sure I was using the latest version of software, the latest version of drivers, I cleared my shader cache of my GPU drivers, I cleared the cache of DAZ. Now I am of out of ideas.

Everything else work fine, when I am in the software and ask for an Iray quick render it is fine (sometimes slow but fine). Only on the final render do I get a crash. Everything else on my computer works fine. I can run max games at 4K resolution no problem.

I feel like DAZ doesn't know how to slow down if my RAM is at 100% capacity while rendering and will crash the software if I exceed it. (this would be why it would crash if I am watching youtube or having facebook open while rendering).

So my questions are:

1. Does anyone know what I should try next that could maybe fix the issue.

2. Would buying myself an extra 32gb of RAM (2x16) most likely fix the issue?

3. Should I sell my 5090 and buy a 4090 so I can use DAZ version 4 for renders?

Thanks for the help.

The renders are nothing crazy, ie. : 2 G9 model, 1 G8, 1 non-crazy environment and like an HDRI light + 2-3 emissives.

My specs are:

AMD Ryzen 7 98000 X3D

32gb of TForce Delta DDR5 6000Mhz RAM

RTX 5090

Windows 11 (I hate it, w10 was way better)

My computer was fully formatted 2 weeks ago so I dont have much installed that could mess with my drivers.

  • Studio 6.25/2025 is an alpha, expect things to not work 100% of the time.

    1. and 3, It's a bad practic to try to do anything else while rendering, with single gpu, as it can wind up causing you to run out of vram, slow downs in rendering, as it switches back and forth,  and possible crashes.

Switching to a different gpu isn't going to change this.

Push the render button, and go have a coffee.

    2. Adding more system memory probably isn't going to solve the crash problem, as it appears to be BPU related, but you should proably add more ram as it will switch to virtual ram if you run out of physical, significanlty slowing your system down.

The general recommendation is 3x system ram to vram. So, with a  5090 that has 32GB of vram you should have 96GB of system ram to adequetly support the gpu.

My condolences to your wallet, with current ram prices.

Lastly, while it may not seem 'crazy' you could easily hit 32GB of system and/or vram with just those few things.

Texture size and number, Material settings, poly counts(Sub-d setting), hair(especially fibermesh, due to its high poly count), clothing, lighting and render settings, and iray itself,  all add up quick.

As an example, A Genesis 8 basic female, with a render sub-d set to 5, no clothing, no hair and default render setting at 1kx1k, takes 6.7GB on my old p40, and 6GB(total) of system ram for studio.

  • Thx for the reply, I really appreciate it. I will go for the RAM upgrade and, like you said, go chill while I am rendering.

No man, don't spend any more money. The same thing is happening to me, but I was using it normally and without any performance issues or anything similar. I use a Studio driver and it's not the latest version. Everything was normal, and one day it just started crashing.

My hardware is simpler than yours and it worked fine. And look, a few months ago I was using Intel graphics and (yes, it took hours or days to render, but it worked without crashes).

Now I used it for a few months without problems (alpha version) and now it just won't even open (it shows the screen and then closes).

    My hardware: 5060 ti 16 GB and Ryzen 5 7600 32 GB DDR5 6000mhz.

I still don't know what to do.

You seem to have a completely different issue than op.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Studio?

Do you have the same problem with the non-alpha version, 4.24?

Nope. Works normal. But i have a 5060 Ti and can't use my GPU on  4.24. Useless.

Do you happen to have any earlier versions of studio saved?  I had the same issue and found version 4.10 on one of my back ups.  Works perfectly to render in Iray with the 5060 card.  Still doesn't work in 4.24 but it does in 4.10

  • 大家好!你们解决这个问题了吗?我也遇到同样的问题——我的显卡是5070 Ti,渲染时总是崩溃和冻结。你有什么解决办法吗?
