Question about Toyen's Balla hairstyle

I found this very interesting hairstyle in the Shop, and I wonder if there are iRay shader presets for this hairstyle? If there aren't, is there any way I could allow this hairstyle to add iRay shaders, such as a script that can add the ability to use iRay shaders?

Are you talking about this? https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-balla-ponytail-for-genesis-9

I assume it Omnihair shader which is an Iray shader.

Else I don't understand whay you are talking about,

  • I was always led to believe that the hair only renders if dForce strands are used, implying that I would need to use dForce. I had no issues rendering in 3Delight if iRay shaders were still used (and I do have a script that allows me to convert iRay shaders to 3Delight with just one click). I am aware that 3Delight is no longer in updates moving forward, so I intend to keep my 4.24.03 version forever and I do have a backup of such installer.

Strandbased hair and dForce hair is used about the same thing, though it is not fully correct. dForce hair can be obtained with PA strandbased hair, or with mesh hair with dForce modifier (like Linday uses). And just because it is strandbased hair and has dForce settings, it does not mean it can be simulated. Daz has just decided to call PA strandbased hair for dForce hair.

Strandbased hair consist of single lines of verteces so it has no actual geometry. Previously you must set tesselation to 3 to render it, so the hair got some geometry. Now with the newer Omnihair shader, tesselation shall be 0, and the volume will then be generated during render
