Content Directory Question

I'm rebuilding all my content, which is a lot more that I bargained for after years of doing this, and I'm running out of drive space. To that end, I have a new external drive coming. Is it safe to copy/move and consolidate my content directories on the new drive or do I need to uninstall and reload everything?

You can move it. Just update the Content libraries in Daz Studio.
If you are using DIM, you must also update the content path there, and preferably also update the manifest files. The manifest files tell DIM what is installed and where, You can make such batch update with e.g. Notepad ++.
If you have the downloads you can just change installation path (in DIM) and then reinstall all content. Then the manifest files will be updated. That will though still take time. Move and update manifest is faster.
Thanks for the reply. That makes life easier. Re-installing with DIM isn't so bad, it just means waiting. The Rendo stuff is a pain since thats all installed by hand.
I have almost 4tb on my external drive. I just move them over when I back up or need a new drive. Its basically drag and drop and then change the paths in DIM so it can find everything . I did recently have to reload all of my content via DIM as one of my hard drives failed halfway through the runtime texture transfer. I lost a lot of my art work and a lot of the textures for assets I earned doing promo work. Then I had to redo all of the content from other sites. Took a fair amount of time. I do highly recommend you get a second back up drive, and move everything to that as well, because there is not telling when one will go out. I had one that lasted years and then I had the more recent one fail in the middle of a backup that wasn't that old.
