Feng Characters
in The Commons
Some time back I remember seeing a post in the forums about a problem with a Feng character. There's a few Feng characters on sale right now and I would like to avoid buying one that has problems. I've tried searching for the forum post but was unsuccessful.
Could anyone help me out here? Please and thank you.

My guess is that all of the characters that may have had "duplicate formulas" errors have been corrected. I have several Feng G9 characters, and none of them have any errors.
Thank you, 3D Saga.
You should find usuful informations here:

Eleanor has at least one cbc that is not connected to her body shape, so it fires with all characters. I deleted the character from my library and since my support ticket of over a year ago is still open, I am assuming it has not been fixed.
Thank you, Phoenix. This is the kind of thing that I would like to avoid.
I checked Ethan and Eleanor and they still have the problem (I forgot about it and didn't re-applied the fix after re-installing my whole library a couple of months ago and I also forgot to open a ticket).
Both have two elements you need to fix (it's easy to do so and is afair, explained in the linked discussion):
i have both of those characters and tried to follow the instructions in the other thread. Wow..that one flies high over my head. I guess it because I have no idea what I'm actually trying to do, or what I'm doing, even if i might be doing it. If that makes any sense at all. and what am I even looking for to find out if :I have a problem to begin with??
I have FN Ethan, but the issue doesn't occur when I use him in a scene. How is that possible- why would others experience the issue, and I wouldn't?
You wouldn't see a problem when using Ethan. The problem occurs when you use any other character. Ethan's cbc morphs will be firing on those characters because they are not properly "tied" exclusively to his body shape.
@3DSaga > To see the problem, load Genesis 9, bend Spine 2 or 3 to the higher limit and while keeping Spine 2 or 3 selected, show Currently Used with Show Hidden Properties active: you should see Ethan's spine2_FNEthan_CTRLMD_N_XRotate_40 or spine3_FNEthan_CTRLMD_N_XRotate_35 at 1 (and any other Feng character with the same problem should have their respective 'cbc morphs' active too: in my case, I also saw the one from Eleanor).
To fix the problem, you'll have to add the morph controling Ethan's body as the second stage controler (or something like that) on spine2_FNEthan_CTRLMD_N_XRotate_40 and spine3_FNEthan_CTRLMD_N_XRotate_35.
Bonus question: what does CBC mean?
I should know this, but I'm actually guessing it means something like Custom Body Character.
I thought Bend Correction came into it?
They are CBC, not CBS (Corrective Bend Shape)? If so CBC might be a typo for CBS in the original naming.
Thanks Elor for the additional information. Following your instructions, I do see some Feng controllers, but their values are all "0". Am I correct to understand this means they're not influencing other G9 characters?
If the Property Hieararchy panel is not open (I don't think it is by default), and if you don't know how to open it, you can open it by going to Windows > Panes (Tab) and search for Property Hieararchy.
What you should see if the problem is not fixed on your computer:
You can also check in the Property Hieararchy panel with Genesis 9 selected, searching for Ethan and you should have one property related to him on spine 2 and one on spine 3.
If the 2nd stage of either property has Ethan Body as shown on the following screenshot, you're good (and you likely forget you fixed it a couple of months ago). If not, you'll have to switch the parameters panel into Edit Mode, then click on 'FN Ethan Body' and drag and drop it onto 2nd Stage:
At that point, if you select back the spine bone impacted by Ethan morph, it should now no longer have any Ethan property dialed at 1.
You'll have to do it for all Feng characters that have the same problem, and once you're done, the easiest way to save these changes is, with Genesis 9 selected, to go to 'File > Save As > Support Asset > Save Modified Assets', and
be very cautious to only save the properties you modified.
As an example, for some reasons, DS though Genesis 9 was changed too, so I unchecked it, keeping only Ethan and Eleanor related modifiers checked (I also don't know why DS decided I was the author of the modifiers):
And voila.
Elor, thanks for this information- I learned a lot!
I think you're right, I must have corrected this a few months ago and I've forgotten I did it.
I hope I didn't mislead the OP or other readers with my initial post. Clearly there's an issue with these FN characters, which is a shame since they're wonderful characters. The solution as you've outlined is simple enough, even though DAZ should really address it.
