What would you buy if this were to be your last purchase from DAZ?
I'm not sure myself, as I have so much, but today's sale lends itself to a pretty stacked cart.

As luck would have it I've done a lot of catching up in the last year so one of these:
Bonnie 8.1 Mega Bundle | Daz 3D or FN Simba HD for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D or XI Snow Village | Daz 3D
a bloody big gift certificate
I only bought 4 things today with countdown1 because I need money for liquid and edible Christmas cheer
....hard to say as I already have over two thirds of Stonemason's output, even items that are no longer in the store.
As to today's sale definitely a nice break from the usual routine.
The stuff on my high priority list, and any bases for clothing where I've gotten the textures because they were cheap and I'm just waiting for the base to go on sale.
I don't think there will ever be a decision for an absolute last purchase for me, though. I'm entering wind-down mode... with a year left on my D+ (expires Jan '27) I'm planning on cleaning out what I want on my WL (as opposed to what I WL'ed so I could find it in the event I needed it, or would welcome if it showed up free) if the prices are in budget. But even after that, I'll be keeping my eyes out for new things that deal with a sticking point -- utilities that solve a problem or assets that fill a gap.
It's a paradoxical question, because I tend to buy the stuff I want most, first. But I too need to render more and shop less. Animals/creatures/furry critters are highest priority, so I'd probably pick some of the Alessandro_AM or Oso3D or RawArt critters from my wishlist, or misc creature morphs.
As my library gets more robust, I push the target discount higher and higher before I commit to a cart. I don't think I'll ever completely stop shopping here as long as store artists keep creating cool new things. :) I could stop buying clothes and human characters atogether and have all that I need for my art, but there's still room in the runtime for props, characters, environments, vehicles, especially if they're well rigged or more specialized/unusual.
I'm not sure if my last (paid) purchase hasn't been made already, considering that my spendings for December amount to $ 0.00 (for 11 items).
Same here. I got what I've needed and frankly there is nothing much anymore, that floads my boat.
Vendors product Ideas and what I might like to see in a store are oceans apart (pun not intended)
In fact, my wishlist is empty by now.
Impossible to say. I really thought I was on my last Daz purchase over a year ago. So, I've no answer for that question.
For me, it may be the Genesis 9 Essential Shapes Bundle. After I got HID's Beyonce and Halle Berry, I was quite annoyed to find that they were stuck with a different body type from what I wanted, and it would cost me lots of money to fix that. It reminded me of why I stopped buying things from this store. But now that I've learned there is a sale, and since I'm already stuck with Genesis 9 characters, I might spend money one more time... unless the sale instantly disappears before I'm ready.
I own a ridiculously large number of items already, tend to buy any "I MUST HAVE THAT" items pretty quickly, and could render with a new item every day for many years without repeating. Heck, I only have a small percentage of what I own installed, and there's currently nothing in the store that I don't have that that I absolutely need. So, by default, it would likely be either something that's not yet in the store or something on sale for a really good discount.
I'vre been buying stuff here since Zygote, so even asking the question seems a bit off, so it comes to need. I have no needs in reality. yeah, but it would be cool to go out with a bang..maybe yesterday was it? I'm not sure. I had like 20+ items in my crt but ended up removing al the character related items.and just kind of rounded off some series stuff and a few newer /WL items that popped up at a discount. will that be the last, no..I already have 3 free and 1 pay item in my cart. The pricing is too good to pass on. Its confusing
My first thoughts is: why this is the last time I'll buy?
Is it because I have no money? Then nothing.
Is it because I'm quitting Daz? Then nothing.
Is it because I decided not to shop at Daz anymore? Then nothing.
Is it because Daz is shutting down its store and store only? Then it'll all depend on my budget and deals. But I'd be most likely busy downloading the file packages, so I can used the products even if I switch PCs in the future etc.
Honestly, I can't think of a scenario whether I'd be picking something on Daz for the last time. I have a lot of products already (not as much as some real old timers, but still :) ), and recently I've been slowing down with my purchases (mostly because of the prices and expensive buy-ins), so I'm more likely to get what I currently need or really, really like, but it doesn't mean a month from now there won't be something to excite me again and spend more than I planned (like during the PA sales or even member festival).
to answer one of your questions, I do plan on stopping purchases here the end of the month, 31 December. Why? I have too much and I use too little of it, plus I spend way too much here over my budget. When I look at my spend I get butterflies in my stomach, but just for a moment.
I hope for you that a break from shopping will allow you to use more of what you've already got!
thanks,,i just got a few V4 free items over at Rendo. Think I'm starting there
What's interesting, I felt way more creative back then, during M4/V4 days, and even earlier. Its like I;ve lost that newness feeling, and seem to spend more of my time trying to learn all the stuff within DAZ Studio and getting frustrated more than anything.
@daveso, I can understand the desire for simplicity, and the V4/M4 figures were decidedly simpler than the current crop. Funny thing is, the V4/M4 figures can look good in 3DL; and with current shaders, they also still look good. So, do enjoy your adventure!
I ended up getting just the Genesis 9 Body Shapes and Expressions insead of the whole bundle. In the product library, Body Shapes shows up as the most recent entry. So I presume that will be my last DAZ purchase ever. Unless HID makes a 1990's Mariah Carey or Holly Robinson.
My biggest library gap - and the number one reason I look outside of the Daz shop for items to adapt or kitbash - is historical buildings, props and clothing. Anything that allows me to tell a grounded story as opposed to be stuck rendering fragmented fantasy scenes.
Urban city environments and residential housing of the Romans, Ancient Greeks, Meso-Americans, Endo Japanese, Imperial-era Chinese, Ancient Egyptian and early Semitic and Sumerian populations. I think we have enough monumental architecture for most of those civilisations, but it's difficult to tell a story in temples and bath houses or on streets of gold. Thankfully, some of Enterables' Daz+ releases this year have been filling this gap. They may not be Stonemason detailed nor entirely authentic, but they're very useable. I wonder if Daz are using our store searches to inform what they put out as Daz+ - if so, you can probably blame me in part.
But it's the clothing gap that is the most glaring to me. The clothing we do get tends to be sexualised over everyday for the ladies - either in fantastical ways or, when subtler, with a far too modern aesthetic. For gents, it can be even worse if they're not a warrior or king. Can get by on historical Asian, middle-Eastern and Medieval European clothing, but authentic Ancient European is very sparse and pre-colonial American - particularly South American - is practically non-existent. I buy clothing from CLO-SET to fill the gaps, although there's a noted lack of any historical South American clothing there too. I've been trying to dress an Inca character all year and have been through my entire clothing library several times. Nothing is suitable, and I have a lot of clothing. The cuts are simply nowhere near close. I've the shaders needed several times over but not the models!
What's most frustrating is that I'm not looking for absolutely perfect - clothing, for me, only need be good enough to evoke an era without looking like Comic Con does Tinder cosplay. And be varied enough that not everyone has the same clothes on.
Lala-Rabbit has put a few nice outfits out recently. I'm still missing https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-lala-ethnic-costume-for-genesis-9, which is probably my must-buy before the end of the year.
