Creating an injection dsx

leo04leo04 Posts: 377

Just how is [creating an injection dsx] this done.  I have created a morph of a character and used in on my GF8.1 model, but now want to at the very least get the facial features into a GF9 model.

I have tried to use the RSSY Character Converter with very disappointing results.

Directions to a tutorial would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

.dsx or a morph asset .dsf? The latter is done via File>Save As>Support Assets>Save Modifier Asset (modifier asset, not modified assets). The product and author names are used for folder names in the data/characterpath/morphs folder.

Will that put a G8.1 morph onto G9, as this user is trying to do? Also, G8.1 experssions aren't at all compatible with G9 are they?

they said "facial features" not "facial expressions".

Hard to answer a question that is not decipherable.

If the OP wants to project G8.1 face morph to G9, they can use G8 clone morph for G9, and then use transfer utility to transfer favorited morph between two figures in scenes with same shape.

By the way, if making a morph manually, you will need to adjust rigging to shape  and ERC freeze.  For facial morph on G9, adjust rigging for whole face but leave eyelids and eyes unadjusted, and then ERC freeze.  Next, G9 has eye script utility included with G9 essentials which you run for eyelids and eyes once the eyes are "in place", i.e., autofollow morph for eyes has already been updated.  Then that will adjust eyelid and eye rigging while also "ERC freezing" them in a sense.

    Then you can save.

Sorry, I was thinking the conversion had been done and the question was how to save it to a file. I would take features to mean shape, not expressions.

There are, I think, one or two other converters butt here is a limit to how much they can do. In what way was the one you tried disappointing? What modelling/sculpting software and skills do you have?

I think you are right about "facial features" being the shape of the face, not the expression. I'm not sure how I made that leap to expression.

I have had excellent luck with the ManFriday converter to convert G8 to G9. I haven't tried G8.1, I don't think. The only things that need tweaking afterward are the eyes and sometimes mouth of G9, because they are separate geometry. I don't know if the ManFriday converter is still available in the store or not.

So let me clarify what I mean.  With some assets you get dsx files that will "inject" the head or body shape of the asset, of a human model, G1, G3 ect.

I am not talking about expressions. I am talking about the form or facial shape that gives the model its physical identity, Its "face", like the face of any person.

i started out with a Genesis Character tweaking the facial morphs to obtain the facial features that I wanted the character to look like.

I have susseccsullly "converted" this through several itterations from G2, G3 to G8.1.  I want to "translate"  or "convert" or what ever actionable verb you want to use to get this geometrically shaped face into the G9 model format.

I was able to move, convert, translate, what ever you want to call the process, into a G9 model, once. I have not been able to replicate the process again. Every time I attempt this it fails and I am left with a grotesque model than is desired.

While I  was successful in one attempt to get this into a G9 model, I have no means to further modify the body shape. If I work on any part of the body using the body morphs it distorts the entire model.

This is a major issue as I want to modify the body shape but can't.

What I was initially asking was how to create an injectable file whose format has a DSX extention as I have observed them to have.

The end game is to get the "head" shape on to a G9 model then using the body morphs to fill out the female shapes and attributes of the rest of the G9 figure.

I hope this makes my objective clearer.

    Thanks.

I am pretty sure you mean .dsf (the asset save I mentioned above, which will make the saved morph available on all Gensis 9 figures - make sure it is zeroed when you save it) or a .duf file with the shape embedded (a Character preset used to load a new figure will do that, using it to modifiy an already loaded figure won't load the morph).
